  • "Have tried to e mail you a complaint but you are currently and strangely not receiving e mails at your address."

I therefor printed my e mail and posted to your head office address. It contains photos of our complaints and proof that we came home a day early. Lots of issues. Such a shame as we have been totally satisfied with our previous rentals via Skyes Cottages. Do you have an alternative e mail address to which I can forward my original e mail.

  • "Lovely holiday accommodation - quite the best lounge/sitting room we have ever encountered - very spacious."

Dining room in the conservatory was also spacious but two of the double glazed units have blown and could do with replacing. Bedrooms were fine. The kitchen had everything one could need. The shower room was also spacious and the bungalow was very good indeed. The lawned gardens added to the sense of space and it was lovely to see the cattle in the field. Definitely recommend.

  • "The Ivy is one of the most comfortable and clean houses we have stayed in (which is many!"

) There was plenty of parking and getting into the house was easy with the key box easy to locate. On arrival there was a very nice Welcome Package with milk, butter and crumpets! We also met the couple who live next door (adjoining side) who were very friendly and full of tips and advice, and very tolerant when our sons aeroplane had to be retrieved from their garden! We have had problems with noisy neighbours before, but this was never an issue at The Ivy! The bungalows location was quiet with the fields to the back and perfectly situated for beautiful walks along the old railroad track (the start of which is virtually opposite the bungalow!) And it was a pleasant walk into Whitstable the opposite direction, which took us about 30 minutes at a leisurely stroll (two 40-somethings and an eleven year old). Whitstable is a really lovely place and our choice of retirement destination! We highly recommend the museum (open Thursday to Saturday) and lunch at the Tudor Tea Room, later followed by dinner at The Peter Cushing ( the husband is a huge fan of his!) We were also within easy drive of Herne Bay, Canterbury (recommend Wincheap Park and Ride at £4 a car for the day!), Dover Castle, Broadstairs, Leeds Castle and so many other incredible places to visit. On to the negative, a few little things were missing which would have made life easier, such as a pizza cutter, spatula/fish slice and a pair of scissors. And the back door was often difficult to lock. And reversing off the driveway could be hair raising due to the bend in the road and speeding cars!!! However, these are very minor issues and I would definitely stay at The Ivy again.

It would have been a problem if we had had children Broken patio door handle Toilet roll holder coming off the wall Unkept garden Could have done with a slotted spoon and a pair of tongs

We would have run the hoover around before leaving but unfortunately we couldn't get the vacuum cleaner to work.

  • "The Ivy is a lovely bungalow just outside Whitstable about 10 min drive to the sea front."

Tesco is 2 mins away in the car, and the cycle way to Canterbury is across the road. The Ivy has all you need and backs onto farmland with nice view, no local pub close by. The twin room is great but the double room is small with no bedside tables. Some of the doors need the locks sorting which would make it more secure. All said we had a great time and would go again taking the bikes.

  • "Our short stay at The Ivy was made all the nicer by the thoughtful edible gifts left by the owner."

The bungalow was extremely well equipped, very cosy and even had some friendly cows in the field at the end of the garden who we enjoyed watching over breakfast in the conservatory. The dog wasn’t too keen though! An excellent property in a lovely part of the world.

It has a lovely cosy feel. My baby Grandson loved seeing the cows in the neighbouring field. We enjoyed walking the Crab & Winkle way into Whitstable. We look forward to returning again in the future.

  • "We had a great time in this lovely holiday house."

We stayed here with our daughters aged 10 and 12. The two bedrooms have comfortable beds. The master bedroom was not very dark in the morning so we used eyed backout thingies to sleep in. The bathroom is clean and the shower is nice if a bit cramped. We had quite warm weather during our stay and the house handled it quite well. The nice living room stayed quite cool during the hot daytime. The sunroom in the back of the house heated up quickly but was enjoyable at night time. The garden is enjoyable too and gives a nice view of a large pasture with cows. I enjoy cooking and was happy with the well equipped kitchen. There is a large Tesco very nearby for shopping. We had a good time and would be happy to stay here again!

Parking the car was easy and nice having a large supermarket nearby plus a short walk to the coast. A lovely view from the garden across the fields with the cows grazing. This would be a good cottage for cycling with a track from canterbury by the Ivy to Whitstable. This cottage is a good location to explore Kent.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at the Ivy, the bungalow and Garden were ideal for us."

The lock on the double door conservatory can be temperamental and the handle is broken, however there are is a side door to the conservatory which is in perfect working order. The owner John is very friendly and helpful when I contacted him about the workings of the vacuum. We stayed for one week and wished we had booked for two, so many places to visit.

Could have done with some more serving spoons, and oven prof dishes as we like home cooked food. Enjoyed meeting the cows daily. Tesco’s very close to bungalow ( ten minutes) which has a vast selection of food. Not far from Whitstable town , but also not too far for day trips to Herne Bay, Margate, Ramsgate, Reculvar, Faversham, and Coventry. Really enjoyed our stay would recommend it, bonus for us the weather was fantastic .

About the location

WHITSTABLE

Herne Bay 5 miles; Canterbury 7 miles.

The lively town of Whitstable, which is known as the “Pearl of Kent”, dates back to before the Domesday Book. Its seaside location makes it ideal for watersports all year round, and its fishing heritage is reflected by the Oyster Festival, which takes place every July. The buzzing local museum/art gallery introduces around six new exhibitions each year, and has a fabulous coffee shop. Whitstable Castle dates back to the 1790’s, and hosts events all year round including a big May Day celebration with contributions from local musicians and artists. The town is home to a small, independent brewery, and any need for retail therapy will easily be satisfied by the range of both national stores and charming small, independent shops. Whitstable is also home to The Pearsons Arm, a gastropub owner by celebrity chef Richard Phillips and nearby in Seasalter is the Michelin star-awarded gastropub, The Sportsman which is also well worth a visit. The city of Canterbury, with its fine 6th century cathedral is just 7 miles away; also nearby is Herne Bay, from where on a clear day you can see as far as Southend and the Isle of Sheppey.
