Sandwich is one of our best preserved medieval towns, where within the old town walls many period houses with characteristic "Kent peg" roofs are laid out in a way which has changed little for centuries, there are also castles galore within short driving distance, with the most famous of all, Dover Castle, spectacularly situated above the White Cliffs.

Walmer Castle and Deal Castle are other fascinating visitor attractions nearby, just north of Sandwich you’ll also discover Richborough Fort, perhaps the most symbolically important of all Roman sites in Britain, there’s also plenty of galleries, exhibitions, festivals and museums to enjoy together with a thriving foodie scene to sample in Deal, as you’d expect, fresh, locally caught seafood is a speciality!

The famous Cathedral City of Canterbury is also just a 20 minute drive away, with a whole host of history and heritage to discover.

With three Open Golf Championship venues nearby, as well as several other great links courses, golfers are spoilt for choice, along with Royal St George's – host to the Open Championship this July, there's also Prince's Golf Club and Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club, both open to visitors and positioned on the coast so you can enjoy the beautiful waterside scenery while you enjoy your round.

Wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers have a wealth of places to visit nearby, Howletts Wild Animal Park is set in 90 acres of beautiful park and Wingham Wildlife Park also makes a lovely family day out, the Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory, just east of Worth, has been recording all aspects of the wildlife in Sandwich Bay for over 50 years whilst the Pegway Bay Country Park offers some stunning views of the coast where you can relax and enjoy a picnic.
