"It’s a lovely cottage very conveniently located for the town and public transport but is also a clean, comfortable ,well equipped haven to relax in ."
I have had a wonderful holiday thank you
"It was a lovely cottage in a fantastic location we had a great time there."
The only one thing we did not like was the settee as it was not big enough for those cosy nights in but other than that it was all good. Maybe if you was a tall man or woman the shower was very small.
We loved the cottage and location. Only thing that worried us was parking as spaces were much sort after, so we used the bus, train and walked a lot. Whitstable station is in easy walking distance and there are bus stops only a couple of minutes away. We enjoyed that, however, more advice on where to park locally/nearby would be useful in your information pack, with a map, not just a parking website. The local roads around the cottage were jammed! However, I would come again!

Furniture could be more comfortable stairs cold do with a xtra rail as the toilet is downstairs a light would be helpful at night otherwise very comfortable cottage
"The cottage was just as we expected, lovely, it was our 3rd visit!"
The only problem we have with it is the on street parking, which I imagine would be a nightmare in full holiday season, we parked 4 streets away a couple of days.
"We had lovely time at Swanfield cottage ,it was clean ,but sofa was uncomfortable the parking was a nightmare."
.we park two street away as there was road works …
"I thoroughly enjoyed my week at the lovely and beautifully renovated Swanfield cottage."
The cottage is in a good location in the center of Whitstable and only a short walk from the sea. The cottage is very lovingly furnished and has everything you need. The communication with the owner was very friendly and fast. He was very helpful with all requests. Thank you for this very nice stay!
"Gem of a property."
An immaculate cosy cottage cleaned to a very high spec. Exceptionally well equipped and a great information pack was provided. Lovely welcome pack and fresh flowers were a really thoughtful touch. Very warm and comfortable. Excellent location for all that Whitstable has to offer and the train station. We will definitely return and highly recommend.
"We love this cottage!"
It is the 2nd time we have stayed, and it didn't disappoint on the 2nd visit. There are lovely touches like tea, biscuits and milk on arrival, not to mention the beautiful flowers. The owner is very approachable, and I feel that nothing would be too much bother. The only downside is the parking, but, having said that we found a space within 3-4 minutes walk every time we needed a space.
"Swanfield has been a lovely getaway cottage for us."
We were greeted with festive touches along with a bottle of wine and fresh flowers! The location is central to Whitstable High St and the beach. We enjoyed long walks each day. After a walk we prepared dinner in the well-kitted out kitchen and sat back to enjoy the fire and watch a movie. We will definitely visit again and recommend the cottage.
"A lovely quirky cottage in a convenient private garden with a lockable gate which is handy for bikes."
Well placed to explore the rest of the Whitstable area. A little noisy but no more than one would expect from a town position. A comfortable clean cottage with every facility, I would happily recommend.
"A pretty cottage in Whitstable."
Near to the Beach, Restaurants, shops etc. The cottage was spotless, everything very nice. Would definitely return.
"Well equipped cottage, good communication."
"Cleanliness was a big problem- bath room and shower covered with hair and wooden beams both upstairs and downstairs hanging with cobwebs."
We actually considered returning home after our first night. Parking is also a huge problem. It is unreasonable for the listing to state on street parking as this is simply never available. Would be more appropriate to detail nearby car parks. Noise from adjoining pub. For several nights during our stay, you could hear noise from the attached property. This was loud enough that you could hear conversations that were taking place and to make it worse, you could even hear people using the toilet! The only positive for us was the nearby shops and restaurants which were lovely, but still a 10-20 minute walk.
I am sorry to hear that, unlike the majority of guests, you found the cleanliness of the cottage to be a 'big problem'. Our housekeeper is typically extremely thorough, but I have brought these particular comments to her attention. Parking in the town is certainly difficult, especially in peak periods. However, on street parking is available outside the property and most guests succeed in finding a space (there are some very helpful parking apps available, e.g www.justpark.com). Guests are clearly warned that there is a small micropub to the rear of the cottage. The level of noise has not generally caused problems for guests, but any feedback about this is taken seriously and it will be discussed with the owner. We are always more than happy to provide guests with information and recommendations regarding a number of conveniently located shops and some good restaurants, all of which are less than ten minutes walk from the cottage. "A very comfortable and conveniently located cottage with a pretty garden."
Accurately described by you and I agreed with previous reviews shown.
"Very well appointed, very clean, pretty cottage."
Great comfortable bed and bedding. Fresh flowers and welcome pack a nice touch. All windows face the courtyard/garden, so very peaceful and quiet. Due to the unpredictable weather a smart TV set would be a bonus for evening entertainment, as all books, DVDs etc. have been removed due to Covid regulations. Thank you for a lovely break.!
"As other reviewers have mentioned the car parking situation is awful."
In theory there is free parking in Swanfield Road but in practice it is almost impossible to find a space anywhere near and this can be quite stressful especially when unloading or loading. The listing should make this clear. Also, the nearby railway line is very noisy with trains hooting very loudly from early to late. I can't see any other reviewer mentioning this so perhaps it is a temporary problem associated with railway works. Apart from these things the cottage is delightful and we had a great stay.
"The cottage was lovely and in a good position to walk to the shops and seafront."
The parking though was a nightmare around the local streets. We managed to find a space every day but sometimes it was quite a walk
"Really enjoyed our stay at this lovely little cottage"
"Every little thing catered for like fresh flowers, welcome gifts and even Xmas Decorations."
Cottage backs on to a really nice micro Pub. If you say that you are staying at the cottage the landlord insists on paying for your first round of drinks and you are made to feel so welcome every time you go there!
"Cosy and comfortable cottage, good location for the High St, station and harbour."
We loved exploring along the coastline, gorgeous light, we walked miles! It was good to return to the warmth and comfort of Swanfield Cottage. The only downside was parking...a nightmare! We solved by booking a spot on a drive in Saddleton Rd (7 mins walk away) through Just park. Saved driving round after a day out to find a parking spot - I'd highly recommend it.
It has everything you need and more . I find the bin / recycling situation tricky . 3 wheelie bins down the side of the cottage in single file between the cottage and a fence . . Didn’t know where to put my bottles etc so felt bad leaving them on the side for the owner/ cleaner. They should be more accessible . Other than that great little cottage and would highly recommend
"Cottage was lovely, basically clean but a little cobwebby Garden a bit overgrown but nice & secluded."
Parking was a nightmare. On 2 occasions we had to leave the car a good 8 minutes walk away.
"A lovely gem hidden away in central Whitstable."
A very charismatic old cottage with modern fittings. We enjoyed sitting in the garden, which was more private than we expected. The cottage was very well placed, with shops and pubs only a few minutes walk away. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but we managed to find spaces near to the cottage. If you don't leave Whitstable, which is full of great shops, pubs and restaurants, you wouldn't need your car anyway. Would recommend.
"The hosts Eileen & Keith were amazing from my first phone call to when we left they were more than obliging."
The location was spot on. The facilities were excellent. Spotlessly clean. We will be back. We had a great anniversary the cottage wil always be in our memories. Thank you guys.
"Great cottage ."
Great friendly housekeeper, couldn’t have been more helpful. Great location.
"Although the cottage was as charming as described, the parking was a huge problem not available for the majority of our stay."
Whitstable is a lovely seaside town, would visit again but unfortunately due to above would not re book Swanfield cottage.
"We really enjoyed our stay."
The location was brilliant - right next to town, but also a short walk to the beach. We can't wait to visit again!
"Lovely small, simple cottage."
Very nice experience, would stay again
"This was a lovely break, the cottage was lovely and very comfortable."
A nice welcome gift of milk biscuits tea and coffee.Thank you.
"Lovely cosy cottage, perfect for a romantic weekend."
Close to high street with wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Only down points were the parking around property, although it is free it is very sparse, making it difficult to park close to cottage and it was initially tricky to find the cottage as directions were not clear to look for alley way and the entrance gate to alley is pinned open so sign with cottage number is not visable from the road.

There was a train line near the cottage and road traffic noise, both did not affect ourselves but some light sleepers may be affected
"Very enjoyable stay - the restaurant recommendations were excellent, the cottage was clean and comfortable."
"The towels supplied were very old & thin."
There were 2 hand towels & 2 small bath towels. We spoke to Eileen who told us there were beach towels in a chest in the bedroom. We used these as they were newer although they were the same size & still too small. We could also hear noise in the lounge from the micro brewery behind the cottage (shared back wall) & also hear people actually using the toilet which was rather disconserting.
"The cottage was very comfortable and quaint."
However the parking there is a nightmare we were very lucky during the week but it could have easily been much worse. Whitstable lovely place to visit.
"It was a quirky cottage right in the heart of Whitstable."
Directions were not too clear as the property is behind another in a road with no name plate, even one of the locals didn't know it was there! Everything was on our door step with plenty see, do and eat!
"It was a charming, cosy cottage close to the heart of Whitstable in Kent."
The cottage was well stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay and came with an added treat - a free drink at the neighbourly Handsome Sam micro brewery just round the corner - you can't get a better introduction to the gorgeous community of Whitstable. We enjoyed our stay so much we will definitely be returning soon.
"What a lovely little cottage in a great location."
Everything was there to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Couldn’t have been better located for us. A very pleasant walk down the high street with all the boutique shops and restaurants to the harbour. Would definitely recommend!
"Customer service were brilliant at helping me make my booking after having difficulties placing my booking online."
The cottage is beautifully well maintained and continues to keep many original features. Very clean throughout. Also a gorgeous little garden with patio table and chairs which was lovely to sit out in with one of the many books the cottage keeps, along with dvds, to borrow during your stay. Many thoughtful welcome touches such as milk, tea and coffee were great after a long journey down. The landlord and property management were very quick at getting back in touch via phone.

The cottage was great it was clean not far from shops and place's to eat and drink had a great Holiday Kind Regards R Long
"Cottage was fine, but outdoor area awful, 3 overflowing wheelie bins, garden untidy, overgrown, and impossible to sit in, due to rubbish that obviously should have been removed, a small garden, but hat not the issue would not take much to keep on top of it."
Yes after our previous experiences definitely disappointed and one of our most expensive, I have photos if you require them
"You neglected to mention the bedroom is seperated from micro brewery/pub by a very thin wall, the noise goes on till midnight on fri/sat/sunday."
the tv picture starts to scramble after a short time. the sofa is at right angles to tv and very unconfortable. the garden could be pretty if not overgrown with weeds.
"Great location, well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, homely feeling."
Busy weekend destination for sea food lovers, nice local restaurants and bars. Lots of pleasant walking trails on door step. Parking could be restrictive, although we were lucky enough to find a spot each day, by parking mid-afternoon.
"Back gate was insecure, very steep steps to the bedroom and parking was impossible"
"We had a very pleasant stay the cottage was warm cosy and comfortable hidden away from the main road you could forget you were so near the town but it was lovely for walks etc."

This quaint cottage is superbly located in the charming coastal town of Whitstable in Kent.
With its excellent central location yet secluded position, this could be just the hideaway for that romantic break.
Tucked away down a narrow alleyway off of Swanfield Road, the cottage's 'secret' garden leads to the front door, opening onto a hallway and well-equipped galley kitchen.
On through to the fashionably shabby-chic living/dining room- ideal for curling up on the sofa in front of the fire.
The ground floor also offers an immaculate, white shower room with a heated towel rail.
Take the turning staircase stairs to the open bedroom with an antique style double bed, plenty of clothes storage and blackout curtains for a good night's sleep.
When the sun comes out, make the most of your front garden, a relaxing spot to sit and enjoy a drink, a beer or a barbecue.
Whitstable offers everything you need for an interesting stay - waterfront walks, ancient pubs, quirky shops, excellent restaurants and the beautiful stony beach and harbour.
Amongst the many nearby places to explore, the historic cathedral city of Canterbury is just a short drive away as is Margate with its Turner Gallery and sandy beaches, the medieval buildings of the cinque port Sandwich, dramatic Dover Castle and much more.
About the location
- Herne Bay 5 miles
- Canterbury 7 miles
The lively town of Whitstable, which is known as the “Pearl of Kent”, dates back to before the Domesday Book. Its seaside location makes it ideal for watersports all year round, and its fishing heritage is reflected by the Oyster Festival, which takes place every July. The buzzing local museum/art gallery introduces around six new exhibitions each year, and has a fabulous coffee shop. Whitstable Castle dates back to the 1790’s, and hosts events all year round including a big May Day celebration with contributions from local musicians and artists. The town is home to a small, independent brewery, and any need for retail therapy will easily be satisfied by the range of both national stores and charming small, independent shops. Whitstable is also home to The Pearsons Arm, a gastropub owner by celebrity chef Richard Phillips and nearby in Seasalter is the Michelin star-awarded gastropub, The Sportsman which is also well worth a visit. The city of Canterbury, with its fine 6th century cathedral is just 7 miles away; also nearby is Herne Bay, from where on a clear day you can see as far as Southend and the Isle of Sheppey.
