The village of Withyham is set within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a fantastic location with a number of its own local amenities near the village of Hartfield. Nearby Ashdown Forest is a must see as this is the home of Winnie the Pooh, discover the places which inspired the many tales and walk the fantastic scenery. There are several villages scattered around full of exciting places to visit including National Trust properties, heritage steam railways, art galleries, theatres and museums. There is fun and activities on offer for the whole family: cycling, canoeing, climbing, bush craft, survival skills, golf, walking and wine tasting, to name but a few. A short drive will take you to a variety of beautiful visitor attractions; if historic houses are your interest, then you are truly spoilt for choice with beautiful Scotney Castle, Penshurst Place or Hever Castle. Bedgebury Forest and National Park is only 11 miles away with plenty of walking and cycling paths and a “Go Ape” park where you can swing through the trees. Just up the road is the Bluebell Railway which houses a large number of steam engines or you can visit Bewl Water and take a walk around the reservoir and go sailing, canoeing or windsurfing. If you fancy a round of golf, there are four golf courses in this vicinity, including The King and Queen Championship Course. Lingfield Racecourse is just a short drive away, so have a flutter and either celebrate in style or drown your sorrows. A visit to Royal Tunbridge Wells is a must; it is a very attractive town with great shopping facilities. It is a pleasant place to wander, admire the architecture and visit its antique shops and cafes. Brighton, Lewes and Rye are approximately an hour’s drive away and are also well worth a visit.
