The property

A charming semi-detached cottage located off a cobbled lane in the village of Allonby, alongside the Solway Coast.

With beautiful coastal walks just minutes’ from the door, this delightful cottage offers comfortable accommodation that’s ideal for couples and families.

Inside this charming holiday home is a cosy sitting room with a gas fire and a large kitchen, where chefs in your party can rustle up a lovely homemade meal, or they may wish to have a night off and enjoy a meal in one of the local pubs or hotels.

There is a separate utility which offers extra storage and living space for your pets with an easy clean floor, and access to a secure back yard which has an outside tap, perfect for washing off sandy paws.

Upstairs and completing the accommodation are two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Just 500 yards away is a long sandy beach that is a favourite with walkers and birdwatchers, plus views across to Scotland can be seen.

The village of Allonby has a quaint ice-cream shop, a pub, fish and chip shop, Post Office and cafes, and a number of activities can be enjoyed in the area, including swimming, cycling, golf and birdwatching.

If you feel like a trip inland, why not explore Whinlatter Forest Park, or the colourful town of Keswick in the beautiful Lake District National Park?

The popular seaside resort of Allonby sits along a five mile crescent shaped bay on the Solway Firth, offering a clean shingle beach, sand dunes and a wide green promenade. The flat terrain is ideal for walkers of all ages and for dogs, and is also popular with windsurfers and kite flyers, plus there are beautiful panoramic views across the bay towards Criffel and the Galloway Hills of Scotland. The village is set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has kept much of its Georgian and Victorian charm, with cobbled lanes, curious corners to explore and several splendid buildings, one of which is The Baths, an imposing colonnaded building. The majestic Lake District Fells make a perfect backdrop to the village, and despite its small size, thriving Allonby boasts public houses, several cafes, a chip shop, ice cream parlour/general shop, a Post Office, antiques shop, a leisure centre with pool, events in the village hall and a children’s play park. The Cumbria Coastal Walk and Allerdale Ramble pass through the village, or why not enjoy a round of golf at one of the two courses nearby, plus visit the town of Maryport, which has an award-winning coastal aquarium and maritime and Roman museums. A short drive will take you to the historic city of Carlisle, nip over the border to Gretna Green, experience the 2000 year legacy of Hadrian’s Wall or enjoy fun packed days out exploring the beautiful Western Lakes and fells where there is a wealth of things to see and do, including Hadrian's Cycleway where you can take in the stunning views on your journey.
