"Thank you Vicki for providing a great holiday venue."
We all had a wonderful time. Appreciate so much being able to bring our 4 dogs with us. The house had everything we needed & was so clean & welcoming. The garden views were AMAZING. It was lovely having so many beautiful places within easy driving distance. We really were spoilt for choice. All in all, a fantastic week & the sun shone every day!
"What a beautiful view from this comfortable cottage!"
The owner is so kind, as much wood as we wanted for the log burner and comfortable bedrooms to relax ourselves. As an extended family with our hounds, this was a perfect homely accommodation for our week in the Lakes.
"The cottage was as expected, it had everything we needed, lots of logs were provided for the stove."
we did need to make the garden safer for our dog, there was a small wall that she could jump and logs piled near another that she could climb, we didn’t leave her unattended at all. But overall it’s in a stunning place but is also by a very fast road.
"We had a great stay in a fabulous location."
The views of Skiddaw from the back garden are superb. Some more sturdy outdoor furniture would have led to us using the garden more and some new clothes pegs would be appreciated! However, these are minor things and don't detract from a great cottage in a stunning location.
"The cottage could do with an electric shower as the volume of hot water is quite low (a full bath is not possible)."
Alternatively of course, a larger immersion tank would achieve the same result. A larger set of instructions would also be invaluable; there was guidance on the wood burning stove but no general information. For example, for the first three days we worked on the assumption that there was no frying pan, only to then find several in a dresser unit, entirely separate from the main pan storage cupboards.
"Hi lovely cottage only slight downside is a little bit out of Keswick - but that is our problem to overcome and not a problem with the listing or cottage."
The best bit was the secure enclosed garden which meant to dogs could sunbath quite happily without being concerned about the road. House and garden both lovely - spectacular views of Skiddaw. House was fully equipped and plenty of logs/coal to keep warm in the evenings
"The listing mentioned a dishwasher that turned out to be non existent."
We weren't bothered but some people might be. The wood burning stove heats the room and radiators amazingly quickly and is easy to use. Very well equipped and the house itself is charming with the wide stairs and open landing. Hopefully will return at some point in the future.
"No hot shower for 5 days"

About the location
Keswick 8 miles; Cockermouth 9 miles.
An attractive village in the Northern Lakes, Bassenthwaite lies just a short distance to the north east of Bassenthwaite Lake, and retains its traditional rural feel, with a stream flowing gently on the outskirts, whitewashed Lakeland cottages, a pleasant vllage green and a real ale inn full of character! Bassenthwaite Lake itself, while boasting gentler scenery than others in the region, is still one of the most picturesque places in England. Places of interest nearby include Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Lake with small open-air theatre (reputedly frequented by poets such as Tennyson and Wordsworth), LAke District Wildlife Park, and Dodd Wood. Most of the attractions of the Lake District are within easy reach and the quieter Northern Fells are almost on the doorstep. The nearby towns of Cockermouth and Keswick, both have weekly markets and offer a good range of amenities. The scenery of the Yorkshire Dales is within touring distance, as is the city of Carlisle and Hadrians Wall country.
