  • "A very cosy cottage that has been tastefully modernised and provides excellent accommodation for a couple on a short break."

The views to the rear are stunning and the log burner is an added feature adding rustic charm. The village is quiet offering a couple of pubs (also offering food) local walks, and a cafe and was perfect for our escape to Cumbria. Keswick is also under 10 mins in the car. All in all, a very pleasant stay in a pretty Cumbrian cottage.

Thank you for staying at Nightingale Cottage. We are delighted that you enjoyed a lovely break in Cumbria. We hope you return to further explore this beautiful area. Property Owner

  • "A great little cottage ideally situated close to awesome walking, a couple of nice pubs, and a coffee shop."

Cosy, warm, with a log burner and well equipped little kitchen area, we couldn't have been happier, and will definitely be booking again soon. There's a parking space at the rear, which we managed to fit our Hilux in so it should be big enough for anything, and this makes it easy to unload all your 'stuff' straight from the vehicle to the cottage. Comfortable bed, probably the best sleep we've had for a while! The view of Blencathra in the first light of the day, from the kitchen and landing windows is quite simply breathtaking. Can't wait to go back :-)

We are so pleased that you had a fabulous time in our cottage. We particularly love the views of Blencathra which are stunning all year round. I'm sure a comfy bed at the end of an active day was very welcome! We look forward to you visiting again soon. Property Owner

Lovely cottage in the beautiful village of Threlkeld. It is small but big enough for 2 and a dog, very well equipped and spotlessly clean and a very comfie bed. We really appreciated the provision of a throw for the sofa in case your 4 legged friend doesn't like the floor! And the dog friendly walk book was brilliant. Stunning views and fabulous walks from the cottage. Parking round the back is quite tight but manageable. 2 very nice pubs 2 minutes walk down the road which do food, plus very nice tearoom in the village hall.

Thank you for visiting Nightingale Cottage. We are delighted that you (and your dog) enjoyed your stay and would love to welcome you back soon. Property Owner

The cottage was clean and the log burner was a plus on a damp evening, just to take the chill off even though we only used it for an hour. The recommendation about the Horse and Farrier was great as we found out the Sally kitchens were closed. The bed was very comfortable and a good hot shower. The only slight downside was the sofa which wasn't too comfy but that was the only negative. We would definitely return. Thanks for the welcome pack, and for the dog too :-).

We are glad that you had a lovely stay at Nightingale Cottage and enjoyed the facilities provided. Our dog enjoys sharing her treats with her doggy guests! We hope that you will return one day to further enjoy the Cumbrian hospitality. Property Owner

A back garden would have been good to let the dog out on rather than have to walk a distance in the darkness at night for the toilet.

We are pleased that you had a lovely break but are disappointed that you were unable to locate parking and the back garden. Nightingale Cottage has a parking place in the back garden which is situated over the track directly behind the cottage. Situated in the centre of the village, it is handy for both of the local pubs, both are very welcoming and are dog friendly which is most important to us. The cottage is situated at the base of Blencathra, which is handy for those of you brave enough to have a stroll up, in addition there are a good few easy walks in and around the village. • "The location is superb."

Being keen walkers we planned three days out direct from the house and it was lovely to not need to drive to the start of those walks. It's also only a short drive from some excellent walking spots. For us the location was perfect. The cottage is small and cozy. It could do with a few essentials: sharp knives; olive oil etc. But otherwise well equipped. The cottage was a bit small for our needs and the mattress needs replacing as was very uncomfortable so we didn't get a good sleep during our stay.

Thank you for staying at Nightingale Cottage. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the location and cosiness of the cottage. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions, we have had to remove oils and other cooking essentials. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are sorry that you found the mattress uncomfortable and have now ordered a replacement which will arrive at the beginning of November and will be there for any guests after then. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is in a beautiful location with easy access to lovely walks and not far from Keswick."

The cottage is very small and compact and whilst it was clean and on the whole comfortable there were a couple of things that the owner needs to attend to. 1. There was a leak under the kitchen sink, which had obviously been there for sometime as there was a damp smell coming from the cupboard under the sink. 2. The bed is very uncomfortable, the mattress sloped to one side and it made sleeping quite difficult. 3. When I was making the bed on the first morning after arrival, I found a dirty sock under the bed.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the beautiful location and clean cottage. Thank you for bringing the leak to our attention. This was fixed by our Maintenance Team as soon as we became aware and this could have been done during your stay if we had been informed. We encourage all guests to let us know of issues as they arise so that they can be immediately rectified and we are disappointed that this didn't happen on this occasion. We are sorry that you found the mattress uncomfortable. It is the first time that this has been mentioned to us and, as we will be staying in the cottage in the next few weeks, we will review the situation and address it accordingly. Our cleaner also apologises profusely for the not seeing the sock under the bed. We hope these issues did not detract from your enjoyment and look forward to being able to welcome you back in the future Property Owner
