Keswick 3.9 miles.Town Gate Barn is a popular detached, reverse-level barn conversion in Threlkeld, near the market town of Keswick.

Town Gate Barn offers beautiful countryside views, and sleeps up to six guests, making this barn conversion an ideal base for a family trip to the Lake District.

The living areas are upstairs so they get the advantage of the bright and wonderful views, the kitchen/diner has a stylish dining table for guests to enjoy an evening meal rustled up in the well-equipped kitchen, also with a handy dishwasher and patio doors out to the decking, whilst the sitting room boasts a woodburning stove so you can enjoy a warming evening by the television if you can take your eyes off the views out of the three large windows.

To complete the first floor, there is also a snug room which has a TV offering a DVD player for a relaxing evening with a family favourite film, or a Wii if you're wishing to challenge your loved ones to some electronic games.

On the ground-floor there are three bedrooms, a king-size with its own en-suite bathroom so guests can have an extra bit of privacy.

There are two twin rooms, one with a truckle bed meaning the room can comfortably sleep either one or two guests.

There is also a contemporary wet room so guests can get ready in style, and a a drying area which is great for leaving boots and coats, there is the added benefit of a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Outside there is off-road parking for two cars.

At the rear of the property there is a lawn, as well as a furnished decked area, offering views of Blencathra, where guests can enjoy a spot of al fresco dining or a glass of wine as the sun sets.

Threlkeld is a small thriving village with two popular pubs and a community coffee shop all serving good food just a short walk from the house.

Town Gate Barn’s location is at the foot of the Blencathra so you can enjoy scenic walks straight from your doorstep.

Threlkeld is on the main bus route between Penrith and Keswick, so you have easy access to explore both, by public transport, or you can use the ’old railway line’ which is a four mile cycle/walking route to Keswick, where the bustling tourist town offers shops, eateries, mini golf, a leisure centre, the stunning Theatre by the Lake, quirky museums and galleries and gorgeous parks, as well as sailing, kayaking, fishing and mountain biking.

Between Threlkeld and Keswick is the popular climbing wall and the Neolithic stone circle at Castle Rigg.

Alternatively, head in the other direction towards Ullswater where you will find the stunning Aira Force Waterfall which offers fabulous nature trails, or take a lake cruise departing from Glenridding.

For a scenic trip to The Lake District, Town Gate Barn is an excellent base.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
