"A wonderful place to stay with all the comforts of home and more."
The owners were so welcoming and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if we return to the Lake District, this would be our first choice to stay.
Thank you Luan for your wonderful feedback regarding your recent visit to our Stable Cottage. We thoroughly enjoy welcoming guests to the cottages and our part of the country and are always delighted to hear that our guests have had an enjoyable and memorable visit. Property Owner
"A perfect getaway, peaceful and relaxing."
As you walk into the cottage it's like a home from home, you won't want to leave, we didn't. A lovely welcome from Natalie. We didn't need to have brought anything as the cottage was so well equipped, including the spacious bathroom with the superb jacuzzi bath. Put a film on the TV and cosy up in front of the log fire. How Natalie and John manage to run a working farm and keep the cottages immaculate is a testament to their hard work. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you Natalie and John. We shall return.
"I feel absolutely awful it's take my so long to review, I lost access to my account."
We've stayed at the lakes a few times now and this by far was the best. Everything about this place is just perfect. We cannot wait to come back this year. John and Natalie were so welcoming as was their beautiful dog .... My boys keep asking when we are going back...
Thank you for your very positive review of our Stable Cottage, it is always good to hear that our guests have enjoyed their visit and were impressed with the cottage and what it provides to our visitors. "My son and his family loved it."
It was their first time there and they said they would certainly return. Kids loved it.
"Everything excellent, the only problem was noise transference from next door…ie: snoring"
Thank you for your positive comments following your recent visit and for alerting us to the problem with noise transference that you experienced from the adjoining property. I have been looking at possible solutions to help lesson the sound. Property Owner
"We loved our stay at the Stable cottage, everything was provided for and the house was really well equipped, lovely and warm too."
The house was perfect sized and safe for our 1 and 3 year old children. The whole stay was effortless for the week and we had a great time. Location wise it was a great base for the surrounding area, as long as you can drive.
"Absolutely fantastic place and so well equipped."
Definitely recommended and would love to stay again.

"Delightful cottage with lovely views."
The 3 cottages (barn conversion) are on a working farm run by a lovely couple (Natalie and John) so there is some working noise (tractors etc) but that all adds to the general experience. We had a great time and would go back for another break.
Thank you for your positive feedback for our Stable Cottage. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed staying in our cottage and the experience of being situated on a working farm. I know you enjoyed seeing the chickens and new born lambs along with your grandson and look forward to welcoming you back to The Stackyard Holiday Cottages in the future. Property Owner
"Only stayed two days so not able to explore the area or the farm, but a lovely cottage in a beautiful area."
Bit far to the pub in the winter, I suppose.
"What a great holiday we had."
A great location to explore everywhere. The hosts were great and gave us some good tips on places to visit. We will definitely be back. We had to wrestle the children back in the car as they didn't want to leave.
"Brilliant week in Stable Cottage - loved the peaceful location, gorgeous views from the cottage and play area for our son complete with toy tractors which he adored."
Lots to do for families in the area too.
"Lovely hosts, very comfortable accommodation and amazing views."
Play area fantastic for the kids.
"We really enjoyed our stay."
The accommodation is a beautiful barn conversion that's been very thoughtfully done and the kitchen was very well equipped. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly and the location was quiet and rural, on a working farm, with lovely views. The only thing to bear in mind is it's nearly an hour's drive down to Windermere/Ambleside, so if you're planning to do lots of stuff down there, you need to factor that in.
"Amazing cottage, stunning views, very clean everything we needed would highly ..."
Amazing cottage, stunning views, very clean everything we needed would highly recommend, could do with a new bunk bed but it was usable
"The owners of the cottage were really friendly and helpful."
It was toddler friendly and our little one was allowed to watch the cows being fed carrots up close, which was a nice touch. It was a great location and quiet enough to let our toddler wander about safely. We all really loved it!
"The accommodation was very good and located in a beautiful part of the country with easy access by car to the more popular areas of the Lake District."
Unfortunately the main double bed was very uncomfortable and really needs a new quality mattress. We had to leave a day early as the current mattress was causing my wife discomfort and an inability to sleep. Everything else in the cottage was good and we would not hesitate to recommend to others. It would have been nice however if the owner (who lived nearby in the farm) had taken the trouble to make a personal appearance to at least check we were happy,
"Thank you John and Natalie."
.... You are perfect hosts. It was a wonderful visit and very comfortable stay. My family and children enjoyed a lot. Cottage was fully equipped with every thing you need. Best location and complete privacy. We Highly Recommend this Property by all means. Ahmad & Family 19 - 22 April 2019.

Situated eight miles north of the Lake District National Park, the small northern fells village of Bolton Low Houses offers a pub serving good food. Only three miles away is the historic market town of Wigton. Lord Melvyn Bragg was a native of Wigton, and used the town (called Thurston in some of his writings) and the surrounding area as the setting for his novels, which include A Time to Dance. Close by, set just inside the National Park is the lovely village of Caldbeck, which is well worth a visit. The area has something for everyone, including the market town of Keswick, Lakes Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, the Solway Coast, which is well-known for its golf courses and the town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, plus within driving distance is the cathedral city of Carlisle, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.
