  • "This is the second time we have stayed here."

The property is clean and well maintained, and has everything you need for your stay, whether it be for a few days or longer. Altogether small it’s well thought out inside, perfect for what we needed. It’s ideally located to get to most places with ease. Just across the road is the start of a walk to little Braithwaite, great for taking our dog along in the morning, before heading out elsewhere. There is nothing not too like about this place, we are so glad we found it and will be returning again.

  • "Best feature is the very comfortable bed."

Tried to use the vacuum cleaner that is in the property but it would not power up. Property adequate for my needs. Parking is tricky. Fortunately my car and my neighbour's car were small sized. However, glad space is available because I could not see any where else in the village to park. Good location. Difficulty in finding the property while driving, had to ask someone.

  • "We were looking for bed, tv, and simple meals this place met our requirements, nothing grand but all the basics."

Queries. Frying pan is a disaster! Needs replacing. Bed, very strange mattress slopes away at the bed head, one of the pillows compresses down to fill the gap, also both the mattress and the duvet billowing and soft, kind of swim your way onto it. Comfortable once you’re in! Not so easy to get out. Needs a single book with all device etc. information, we had to hunt to find the user manual for each device. The washing facility appeared to be in constant use by the staff. We didn’t use it. OK for us we had sufficient clothes. Yes there are chairs outside in the sun, but they share the same space as your car, so a bit odd. As stated above it did for us but we had brilliant weather and spent most time out and about.

The cottage was perfect and we both really enjoyed our stay.We will definately be back in the future. My partner and l have already booked a holiday with Sykes cottages in Ambleside next year as she has fell in love with the lake district.

  • "Small but perfectly formed!"

An ideal studio for the two of us a big dog. The cottage was well set up with a very a comfy bed the kitchen was well appointed. The parking was not the issue that others have commented on - you just need to be careful and considerate. It was warm despite the freezing conditions outside (it snowed!) despite not being centrally heated (it was electric radiators). Ideal village with 2 pubs both serving excellent food and a village shop selling the essentials.

  • "Well designed and fitted cottage."

It may have been just a studio but we did not feel cramped. All the facilities we needed were available.

  • "Unit 7 was great and exceeded all our expectations."

The narrow gap to Unit 7's assigned parking place was challenging and threatened our 1000 GBP excess on our hire car. We wish we would have known about it before we booked. We ended up parking on the street near the school.

  • "A great base for walking activities, compact but all that's needed for a single person or couple."

Obviously parking is tight but perfectly manageable if residents are considerate - which was the case.

  • "Tiny but well designed studio with good quality equipment and furnishings."

Very clean and cosy for two of us and our large dog. Would be useful to have instructions for heaters, were set to 30 degrees with windows open on arrival! Outdoor seating space was not usable as on sloped parking spot and had to move seats to park (would be better to have all seating across yard for communal use). Car parking not quite as tricky as other reviews suggest, just narrow gap at end of drive which our 4x4 got through. In great village location. We’d definitely return.

  • "The cottage was absolutely delightful and we particularly loved the location, with its excellent local bus service, and thoughtful touches such as my name on the door and the folder with some great local information leaflets as well as both the beautiful slate exterior and beamed interior."

The kitchen was also beautifully equipped and in fact our only possible quibble was that there was only one wine glass - however a "champagne" glass sufficed, cheers and thank you!

  • "Really lovely accommodation, perfect location to explore Keswick and the north lakes."

Cottage 7 is much bigger in person in comparison to the photos, clean, tidy and had all the amenities we needed. The owner was lovely, really friendly and accommodating. We’d definitely stay again. The only downfall was the parking, we have a Ford kuga SUV and did struggle to park our car however did manage to get through with our wing mirrors tucked in, we also came back one evening and somebody had parked overnight in our spot, so had to park at the local pub and walk back to our cottage.

  • "Really nice place to stay."

However the steps in the cottage were difficult for my Grandmother to get around in night if she got out of bed and the parking is very tight. Cobwebs on beams could be dusted. Really comfy bed. Tv was hard to use. Overall a really good little place and a brilliant location.

  • "A few things that would lead to an improvement: in the kitchen, a pair of scissors needed, & kitchen roll would be good."

In general - more information about how appliances etc work - the TV - eg button labelled Netflix does not work? Similarly BBC iplayer? Instructions needed for TV, Cooker, shower & the heating. The room was not warm enough. The studio was OK for 1 person, but very small for 2. Parking difficult. The first morning I was blocked in and had to phone owner for help to get my car out (I had parked in the correct designated place - this would be tricky for someone with a big car). Others had not parked correctly. Very poor view from the studio - I could only see a small part of the car parking and a blank wall. Location in Braithwaite very good, but I would not book this particular studio again. In some ways it met my expectations but in other ways it was disappointing. I stayed here because I like Braithwaite very much and have previously stayed at HPB but all the places there are fully booked for many months to come. Up to you whether or not you publish any of this. I have stayed with Sykes before in a different location and that was much better.

  • "This is a great little cottage."

Warm and comfortable. You have to be quite tidy with your gear because of the limited space but that's no bad thing. Hot shower, comfy bed and a compact kitchen. What else do you need? Parking is a bit tight. We got our Qasqui in and out ok but it is snug. Wing mirrors had to be folded in. All in all though a great spot and so handy for a lot of brilliant walks. The village shop seems always to be open too for any food you forgot to bring.

It had an excellent shower and the bed was very comfortable. It had great cooking facilities and a good dining space. It was within a few minutes walk of a village store and pub. The host had left lots of information of the surrounding area eg. local walks. I am already planning my next stay in the cottage.

  • "I drive a Landrover Freelander."

The parking space for the Mews Cottage No7 was through an alley which literally I could just squeeze through with my wing mirrors folded in. It would have been helpful if I had been notified of this before hand as I would never have chosen that cottage. I noticed that No1 cottage was empty for 2 weeks so I asked the owners permission to park there.

Compact but had everything I needed, comfortable and clean. Only cautionary note would be if you have an enormous car - parking to the rear can be a bit tight, but hey, it's the Lakes and many points on the roads and some of the bridges were not designed for limousines.
