  • "House was easy to maintain, very clean and with good quality equipment."

We thought the waterfall taps in the bathroom and cloakroom would be better replaced by conventional taps - they seem to waste water. We found the shower uncomfortable to use - we are what most people would call of advanced years! - in that it is an overhead drench shower and necessitated standing on the drain plug. We think a purpose built shower might be better in a holiday property. But these are small personal points - overall one of the better houses we have stayed in.

  • "Strongly suggest that the owners provide "Blackout blinds" for the main bedroom, due to efficient outside lighting, the current bedroom curtains allow considerable outside light to penetrate into the bedroom, thus not allowing a settled sleep."

  • "Lovely cottage and kitchen."

Could do with table and chairs outside and also replace the upstairs bathroom tap which works but is cracked glass and manky.

  • "A gem in the Lake District : We had a great time at Hotchberry."

The communication was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does on the pictures. The neighbourhood is very conveniently located and is very quiet. Would absolutely recommend to stay there! Tastefully decorated, Hotchberry is a quiet, clean, spacious and calming place. From the lovey green conservatory to the walk-in wardrobe the host has added some very thoughtful ideas for guests to discover. Hint look out for the little friend on the floor line. My son even found an old pic inserted in one of the mystery genre books in the book shelf and was totally surprised. Not sure if the owners are French but found some great touches of French style around the house. The whole place made us feel at ease and relaxed. Kitchen was fully equipped and with milk tea and coffee too. We would highly recommend this wonderful Home from Home. We would definitely come again.

All mod new cons, very comfortable. Good location for exploring. 2 happy boys. Weather OKish for the Lake District. Highly recommended.

  • "I would suggest that an up-to-date Sat Nav is an essential necessity because without ours we would never have found our way to the house."

Other than that, all was good.

  • "Lovely property in a very quiet cul-de-sac."

Tastefully decorated and very comfortable with everything you need provided for a relaxing stay. I was working in the area and very much enjoyed returning to this "home from home" after a long days work (and maybe a post work bike ride too}. I'm sure it would be just as appreciated after a day out on the fells or sightseeing. Will certainly book again if available when I'm in the area. Many thanks

  • "Great location for the Lakes and local town is lovely."

Only negative is there are no pubs within walking distance. May have been pre Covid but none now

  • "Hotchberry - 1 Spring Bank Court - was the perfect base for us, especially after eight months confined to barracks!"

We definitely plan to return. The cottage was impeccably clean, cosy, quiet, comfortable and conveniently located. Particular plus points: ample parking; masses of storage, particularly in the kitchen and main bedroom; a brilliant shower (choice of two shower-heads, overhead or hand-held); very comfortable beds; good quality appliances that were very easy to use. The living-room would perhaps be a little cramped for four adults but there is the conservatory for additional living space. Only one quibble for the cottage - for four adults it needs a full set of matching wine glasses (there wasn't a matching set even before we broke one)! One other point to bear in mind is that it's difficult to turn right out of Brigham onto the A66 due to the continuous heavy traffic. It's much easier to turn left, then immediately right into Great Broughton and turn round there. Cockermouth is a delightful little town, with excellent food shopping and easy access to Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater.

  • "We knew the property as we were there last October."

Could just do with a new easy chair as the one they have is past it’s sell by date. Could do also with some extra crockery because when there is four in the cottage you are struggling. Apart from that we had a lovely holiday.
