  • "It was comfortable, but dirty I have stayed in 3 other caravans on the site and this was by far the biggest disappointment."

I know it is a dog friendly site but I don't expect to get covered in hair everytime i sat down. The gas being out wasn't a problem as heaters where provided for warmth, however the oven was gas and this wasn't said and I couldn't cook anything for my children. I'm sorry bit it is not one I would recommend.

  • "The hideaway had everything you need , clean and comfortable in a nice setting."

However, while the property is dog friendly, the site definitely is not. My wife was harassed by the gateman on numerous occasions telling her not to walk the dog on site, keep it off the grass, dont let it off the lead etc etc. On one occasion he actually followed her from the reception all the way to the holiday home and waited until she was inside before going back. We had every intention of booking to go back there but this man has changed our mind on that. A pity because it’s a lovely place.

I will have a word with the park warden. However the site rules clearly state that no dogs are allowed to walk around the park. This is because they do not want dogs defecating on the site. The same goes for the residents. Property Owner

  • "The caravan was clean and tidy but did find a couple of things wrong."

The radiator in the kitchen was hit and miss, some of the utensils on the counter didn't feel clean so had to wash what we were going to use. Not sure if the heating goes off at night because it was quite cold. The fire made it cost enough in the living room. The main issue was the beds as the main bed was very uncomfortable and felt lumpy when laid on it. Ok for my mum as she is slight of frame, so had to buy a blow up and sleep in the living room. The twin beds were only really big enough for a child not an adult so couldn't sleep on them. Due to bed issues and the constant rain we cut our holiday short and came home a day earlier. I only booked this because the reviews on bed comfort was good but unfortunately it wasn't for me.

The heating is set to constant and guests can adjust by turning the dial on the heating setting on the boiler. After the guests left I found the radiator in the bedroom was turned off. This can be adjusted by way of a knob on the radiator. Bed has a mattress topper and we have had no other complaints. I will monitor future feedback. My 93 year old Mum sleeps in the twin bed and have had larger guests previously so wouldn’t have anticipated a problem. Sorry about the cutlery. I have changed cleaners. Property Owner

this has nothing to do with the property or sykes evaluation of said property.the home was modern. clean and comfortable . the owners instruction to make our stay ascomfortable as possible was first class, the area was quiet, the neighbours fantastic and helpful. so why one star?, . my dearly beloved had a accident and fell over., breaking her upper arm on the second day . so we had to return home to have it pinned and plated bit of a bummer really

  • "We had a lovely time in this excellent holiday home."

It was spotless, homely, well equipped and comfortable. We liked enclosed decking as we could leave the doors open for our two little doggies to run around. We have a little suggestion that it would be beneficial to the dog owners to have a designated area to exercise the dogs on the grass within the Holiday Park.

The site was also well kept and quiet. Just one small hiccup-----the grill pan was greasy on arrival and had to be cleaned before use. Overall very happy.

The park was kept very neat and tidy. No problems getting the keys and got clear instructions from the caretaker. • "The caravan was lovely nice and clean and comfortable with a lovely leather recliner which really added to the experience for me personally."

some nice welcome touches including a bottle of wine was really appreciated. the broadband advertised wanted to charge you when inputting the code that maybe one for the owners to review but it didn’t bother me as have plenty of data on phone. we had our dog with us who loves his caravans and I really appreciate the owners adding a gate at short notice thank you. the location is a fantastic base for Keswick and cockermouth if you want to drive 10 mins. there is nothing on the doorstep at all apart from a local social club but lovely for a nice peaceful escape. Only one potential change would be to see if you ca. put van in a sunnier location in the park as the veranda was shaded bu big hill and trees yet others has the sun all day. There seemed to be spaces and I think a south facing veranda would massively enhance the holiday experience. overall lovely holiday thank you

The caravan is exactly as described on the website. Spotlessly clean, spacious enough for our young children to play around and as a self catering apartment, I have to say it was wonderfully equipped. As a precaution, we packed few kitchen bits to help but there was absolutely no need. We literally found everything we needed and more. For the children delight, we even found a DVD reader as well as kids favourite DVD’s. Wonderful caretakers, always ready to help no matter your need. The park witch is just 10 min drive from Keswick town centre, is quiet, safe and a perfect base to visit the beautiful surroundings. We just can’t wait to visit again in a near future.

About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
