The property

With breathtaking views over the fells, Calva Lodge combines modern style and a luxurious high-end finish with all the peace and tranquillity of a rural Lakeland location. This fabulous contemporary log cabin certainly has the wow factor and has the perfect blend of peaceful tranquillity with chic and luxurious accommodation.

The farm location makes this a wonderful place for a family holiday, but this fabulous lodge would also be perfect for friends or couples exploring the stunning Lake District and captivating Cumbria. The lodge is a single storey building with floor to ceiling picture windows and bi-fold doors that let light flood into the large living and dining room.

You'll love the attention to detail in the furnishings and the squashy sofas around the wood burning stove.

This room enjoys absolutely stunning views of the fells, and the bi-fold doors allow you to let the outside inside.

There's a fabulous fully equipped modern kitchen ideal for preparing meals with the best of local produce.

The master bedroom has a king size bed, TV and DVD and an en-suite shower room with a rain shower, while the twin bedroom has use of the family bathroom with a bathtub and overhead shower.

Everything has been beautifully finished to the very highest standard, making Calva Lodge a really luxurious destination. Calva Lodge has a truly delightful garden, dominated by those breathtaking views.

There's a beautiful landscaped decked and gravel area, with a BBQ and lighting making it a fantastic area to relax during the evening after a busy day's sightseeing.

Hill Farm is in the most delightful tranquil setting and the owners will be happy to show children around the farm and let them help feed the spring lambs and the Aberdeen Angus cattle.

There's also plenty of off road parking. The lovely village of Caldbeck with its welcoming pubs and restaurants is a typical fellside village, and Skiddaw and Blencathra are both within easy reach of Calva Lodge.

Bassenthwaite Lake is just 15 minutes drive away as is the Lake District Wildlife Park, and the popular and lively town of Keswick is also within easy reach. The Lake District is a designated area of outstanding beauty and it's not difficult to see why.

From the majesty of the fells to the sparkling waters of the lakes, there's something for everyone to enjoy, whether that's fell walking or water sports.

Family attractions include the Aquarium of the Lakes at Windermere, a trip over the scenic Kirkstone Pass, or a trip on one of the famous Lakeside steamers. With the North Lakes on the doorstep, and so much spectacular countryside to enjoy, Calva Lodge is a fantastic place to enjoy a family holiday or just relax and recharge your batteries at any time of year.

About the location

Wigton 7.5 miles; Carlisle 12 miles; Keswick 16 miles; Cockermouth 17 miles.

The charming Cumbrian village of Caldbeck is situated on the northern fringes of the Lake District National Park and is surrounded by beautiful moorland and fells. It’s a classic stone built village with a church, pub, village green and duck pond. The church dates back to the 12th century and is famous for being the resting place of the renowned huntsman John Peel. Although in every sense a ‘traditional working village’, the local craft centre at Priest Mill and the riverside walks to the Howk gorge, draw visitors to Caldbeck. The village is an ideal base for the northern Lakes, the market town of Keswick, as well as Lakes Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite. The natural beauty of the Solway coast, well-known for its golf courses and the town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth are close by, whilst also within driving distance is the cathedral city of Carlisle, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.
