  • "Third time in this cottage always lovely comfortable and very well equipped and very clean."

Beds are extremely comfy have booked again for next year.

  • "We were so glad we chose to stay here as the accommodation was exceptionally clean, the beds were super comfy (the pillows were so bouncy and not flat that you normally get in rental accommodation that I have ordered some for my home)."

The place is decorated & furnished to a high standard. The kitchen had everything you needed to self cater. It's just a shame there was no washing machine as I think that would be more beneficial to guests than a dishwasher! The tv has plenty channels to watch but the only issue was Netflix as we could not log in using our acct as previous guests had not logged out after they had watched it. Overall, a fab accommodation and we will definitely stay again. 10/10

  • "The property is well situated and fully equipped with all you need."

Great shower head with instant hot water. Lovely comfy beds. Off road parking was good too. Great central base to visit other areas of the beautiful Lake District. Lovely seating area at the rear, where we sat out in the sunshine. We were not disturbed by anyone "passing through" during our time there. Town of Cockermouth has many shops, pubs and eateries. Restaurants to suit all tastes, but we highly recommend a visit to Aspava. The Castle was our favourite pub with a beer garden on three levels. All in all a great place to stay. Would recommend.

  • "On entering premises were delighted at how clean every where was."

Lovely to have the welcome pack, very much appreciated. Did find it difficult each night getting into bed with such a small space between bed and wall. Did not know that next door had right of way through back yard into her property, this meant car had to be moved to allow her access. She was'nt very pleasant either. Shame pain peeling off wall by front door although rest of property was decorated to a high standard. Pedal bin lever had een repaired but kept falling off. Great access for town.

  • "Cottage in an ideal position and internally everything you need so could not fault."

The only issue I have the cottage is described as having enclosed garden but does not mention all the neighbours have 24/7 right of way through it and constantly make a point of taking their dogs through, not good if your sitting out with a glass of wine. Would have been good if this access was in the disciption

  • "Very clean, lovely welcome pack."

Comfy bed and settee. Conveniently placed - to the left of the front door a 2 minute walk to the river and to the right 2 minutes to the town. Would recommend this property.

  • "The cottage felt like home from home, great location."

Goodies in welcome basket much appreciated and various maps and leaflets were a useful resource. Clean, tidy and nicely decorated. Extremely hot water always available. Porch ideal, so even when raining could leave boots out to dry off. Driveway got a little annoying with gate needing to be kept open for neighbours and bins etc, a latch would be preferred to ensure gate is secured and no risk of hitting the vehicle. Though question use of gates if always need to be kept open. Overall a pleasant stay.

The first time was in 2020, as Covid was kicking in and everywhere closing down. The property was warm and welcoming with a delightful hospitality tray with everything needed on arrival, including eggs for breakfast ! Everywhere clean and well presented. Plus, a private parking place. Centre of town. We loved it.

  • "We have just returned from a six night stay at 8 Bridge Street."

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and spotlessly clean. The bed was really comfortable and it was very quiet so we slept well. The only very minor niggle was that the bathroom window was very stiff to open and close. The shower was very efficient and the electric towel rail was useful. The cottage is in a very central location so we could do a variety of walks from the doorstep and there are shops and cafes a few minutes walk away. The welcome pack was appreciated. We certainly hope to return before too long.

A few more instructions for heaters/cooker would be welcome, and the plaster on the wall in the hallway needs some attention as it flakes off on your coats hung up in there, but we'd thoroughly recommend it. Thank you.

  • "We had a lovely stay despite the awful weather."

The cottage was clean with plenty of hot water, a pack of bread, milk and various treats and it was warm enough downstairs with the fire. We couldn't work out the storage heaters but it was a mild week so no worries. Some instructions for the dishwasher, cooker and heaters would have been useful. A mix up regarding the towels provided was sorted out with minimum fuss. We were woken a few times on a few nights with a heavy banging on the front door - on inspection we discovered it was the letter box plates banging in the wind. We stuffed newspaper in the letter box but a better solution would be to fit a draft excluder. Other guests have thought it was teenagers banging the door - but thankfully not, and the remedy is a simple one. We will happily recommend to others and hope to come back again. Thank you.

It has everything you will need including good strong WiFi The location is excellent, just off Main Street in Cockermouth which has a very good selection of shops and places to eat. Off street parking is a bonus and Bridge Street is a no-through road so no passing traffic. Very quiet. We enjoyed Cockermouth as great base from which to explore the northern Lakes like Ennerdale, Wastwater and Loweswater, away from the main tourist hotspots. Have no hesitation in recommending .

Lovely to have a comprehensive welcome pack, most of which was gratefully consumed! Glad to have a parking place. Only recommendation for us was nowhere to play cds other than through a laptop so a cd player would have been great, but only a minor thing. Sadly only one of our phones was smart enough to connect to the TV and that was the one that didn't have the music on! Generally though, an excellent property in a lovely town with very good places to eat nearby. Many thanks.

    2. Directions are given as from Eaglesfield. Can’t imagine why anyone would approach from there. I know the area very well. 3. Info recommends a visit to Cockermouth Castle but this is not generally open to the public. It is occasionally open on special occasions. About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
