  • "It’s a beautiful cottage, nicely decorated, very clean, stylish and comfortable."

Great location to explore the north west Lake District, walking distance to the shops, restaurants, bars and supermarkets, it has everything possibly needed and extra, quality appliances in the kitchen, very comfy bed, powerful shower. The owner prepared milk, eggs and bread for us before we arrived, there are really nice herb tea, coffee, hot chocolate as well, we felt really welcomed, it was very touching. We enjoyed our week holiday very much, would definitely come back again. highly recommended.

  • "This property is an absolute gem!"

Spotlessly clean and always cosy and welcoming- especially after a day walking. The open plan layout downstairs is great and the bedrooms are spacious - the beds are heavenly!! The property is well equipped with everything you need whilst on holiday. The location is great both for amenities and access to attractions. The welcome pack was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend this property.

  • "1. It would be useful if your information stated that the key lock box is by the back door and not the front."

    2. Directions are given as from Eaglesfield. Can’t imagine why anyone would approach from there. I know the area very well. 3. Info recommends a visit to Cockermouth Castle but this is not generally open to the public. It is occasionally open on special occasions. The cottage has all you need and is in a perfect area with the advantage of all the facilities Cockermouth has to offer and the proximity to the lakes and the often forgotten history and beauty of the west coast.

We managed to take a different route each day to visit towns and attractions around Cockermouth. The house had everything provided that we could need, I can't think of anything that was not there. The welcome pack was a most pleasant surprise.

  • "We had a few issues and our initial booking for another property was cancelled due to a shared access issue, but the booking team were really helpful in finding an alternative."

Good service. Cottage was really well presented and clean. comfy lounge and really good beds - slept like a log! Really handy to have a parking spot and well situated for the town and shops. Made the western lakes really accessible so walked from Ennerdale and Wasdale. I would stay again for a longer stay I might have missed a washing machine, but generally good for appliances etc. Also great to have amazon prime TV for the evenings

  • "Fully refurbished cottage, very clean and modern."

Right in the centre of Cockermouth so the off road parking a must have. Hair dryer, straightener and a full range of toiletries provided, so save the space in your suitcase and leave the big bottles at home! On the down side there isn’t much worktop in the kitchen which was a bit awkward and we had no hot water, rang the owner who told us how to put it on but we never managed it. Dishwasher and electric shower saved the day. All in all a comfy place to stay.

  • "Property has been renovated to a high standard and was very clean."

Stairs are very steep and narrow so anybody with mobility issues will struggle. Also in the double bedroom there's only approx an 8 inch gap between the end of the bed and the wall so movement is restricted. Great central location and would recommend this property.

Lots to do in the North West lakes and a little quieter than the central lakes. Lots of eating out options in Cockermouth. Perfect size for a family of 4.

Everything was in an as new condition and there were no problems. The cottage came with a welcome pack of bread, eggs, milk, tea/coffee/biscuits and tolietries. It had a great "smart" TV and a small courtyard overlooking the Wordsworth House Garden. It also had a vital parking space (the town is difficult to park in). It was an ideal base for a week in the North Lakes area.

About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
