  • "The location of the property was lovely, I felt that a little more time for a deep clean is needed, the blinds were dusty and the window edges were black in some places, also instead of instant coffee sachets a coffee pot would be better so guests can bring their own coffee, we had to go and buy one for the week, would have left it there but it got broken on last day."

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We genuinely appreciate your input, as it helps us improve our services at River View. I’ve personally looked into the cleanliness to make sure there is no areas been missed and have given the property a deep clean. • "Ideal location and lovely cottage."

Equipment supplied was more than adequate, just (for us) a baking tray (for roasties) would've been a great addition. Beds were very comfortable but the sofa was feeling a tad unsupportive (drop of * under comfort). There was a smell of ammonia around the toilet, perhaps a deep clean or replacement of flooring should be considered (drop of * under facilities and maintenance). That aside, we wouldn't hesitate to book another stay there.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.I want to apologise for the smell in the bathroom, I have spoken with our cleaner to check what cleaning products they are using for the floor to ensure this does not happen again. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future. Edit Property Owner

The thermostat wasn’t working so couldn’t adjust the settings and there was green algae on the shower glass in the bathroom but other than that we enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We genuinely appreciate your input, as it helps us improve our services. I want to apologise for the issue you experienced with the thermostat during your stay. We take such matters seriously, and if you had informed us during your stay, we would have promptly contacted our plumber to resolve it. Your comfort is our priority, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused. Regarding the tap issue, I’ve personally looked into it and ensured that it’s functioning correctly. I’ve also discussed this with our cleaner to ensure better awareness in the future. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to have the opportunity to host you again in the future. Property Owner

Dog friendly which was a bonus for our elderly pooch.Would definately return in the future.Only 1 issue we had was that one day we had been out and arrived back to the property that the gate had been opened which we had actually bolted from the inside so had we not have noticed this before letting our dog out then she wouldve escaped but luckily no harm done on this occasion but please check the gate at all times whilst staying here, better to be safe than sorry, thankyou Chris and Tamar for a lovely stay, will hopefully return in the near future.

Loved the extra added touches like cleaning sprays for the kitchen, spare bulbs etc. Will be staying again when we are back up to visit family. (Although we weren’t cold because of the the time of year we had the heating on a lot , the bedrooms might benefit from curtains instead of blinds and would save on heating costs)

The location was fantastic, 50m from the high street and 2m to the footbridge over the river. There are good river views from the kitchen and double bedroom and seating in the private back yard when the weather allows. Although parking isn't included, it is available nearby at a cost of £6.20 per day (Oct 22).

  • "I had an amazing stay at this lovely cottage, very cosy and homely."

Was very impressed on how clean the place was and especially the breath taking views in the morning along the river that went by right next to the cottage. Great location, only short walks to local pubs and facilities. Also had a back yard which is helpful for when having dogs, didn’t need to panic to find somewhere for mine to go for a wee! Included shampoo, conditioner, towels lv cutlery, pans, cleaning equipment etc the only items I would of required was salt and pepper, oil and a pen! Never the less highly recommend ! Xx

  • "We had a really lovely stay at river view, the cottage was very well situated, easy walking distance to town and across bridge to river and park land, and easy commute to outlying towns."

The kitchen had all the utensils that we required, as only cooked once for breakfast. However I had to clean the frying pan before hand, and noticed the cooker was not the cleanest(I do understand how difficult it is to clean everything in a short space of time). The bathroom shower screen had green slime on the rubber so cleaned that also before I could use shower, perhaps a shower/bath mat would have been a good idea, had to use towel, apart from that it was a really lovely cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we would definitely stay there again, the welcome tray was a great touch, personalised to the cottage, we parked in the Memorial Park car park, £6.25 for 24 hours, maybe a parking permit would be a nice touch, or at least a reduced parking fee.

About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
