• "A really lovely property."

  We had a wonderful Christmas here. The cottage was a real home from home; everything we needed was there to cook the Christmas dinner. It was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The beds were super comfortable. wish we had booked a week instead of the 4 days. We are looking to return in the summer.

• "Absolutely love Riverside Cottage."

  It’s our 3rd stay and it feels like home. It has everything you need, the downstairs shower is fab. A very comfortable nights sleep, It’s in a beautiful spot opposite the river which you can hear while lying in your bed..perfect. Everything is in walking distance; supermarkets, pubs and eateries. It’s a great base for exploring the Lakes. Cockermouth looks gorgeous with all the Xmas decorations up. With 2 parking spaces one on the front & the other round the back. A very secure garden is perfect for our dog. Will definitely be booking again.

  Very well equipped. Getting to the parking at the back was tight but with practice became easier. Would certainly recommend it . The town is less touristy than others, so was quieter but had plenty of good shops and places to eat and drink

• "A beautiful well equipped, clean and comfortable cottage."

  Perfectly sized to take our teenage son, my parents and our dog away for a well earned break. A lovely little welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits, handful of chocolates and a bottle of wine (very minor point, but some milk would have been a good addition) - much appreciated, thankyou. A very short walk to pubs, cafes and supermarkets. There is so much to do and see in the surrounding area - we would love to visit again in the future.

• "A lovely cottage."

  We would like to return next year. Unfortunately the gas fire in the lounge was not working when we arrived and it was not repaired by the time we left. This was disappointing. Apart from that the cottage was super and had everything we needed.

  We are so sorry you had problems with the fire. We were away at the time but had arranged for this to be sorted on the Friday you arrived as soon as we were made aware of the problem. Will look into what went wrong Property Owner

• "A very comfortable, clean, well equipped cottage in a very scenic location by the river which was near the centre of Cockermouth."

  Only tiny flaw was that we were not able to get gas in sitting room to stay on. Weather good for time of year and we sat out in beautiful back yard a few times. We did lots and would return to this cottage and Cockermouth.

• "Nice property in a good location but let down by the following:- 1a)Bottle and cardboard bins in shed were overflowing with no info on how they are emptied."

  1b) Overgrown shrubs obstruct access to all the outside bins, particularly unpleasant experience when shrubs are wet from rain. 1c) Impractical tiny kitchen bin inside cupboard. There is plenty of room to put a full size kitchen bin next to the fridge. 2) All routes to the parking spaces are extremely narrow and challenging for larger cars. The property details should include a fuller description of the parking access.

• "Lovely convenient location and nice sized furnished property for 5 persons."

  All hard floors definitely in need of a proper clean, not just a vacuum. Need bins in bathrooms/toilet as most of the bins in the house hold the cleaner's products/materials so are unusable and a medium/large free-standing bin in the kitchen would be more convenient and efficient. Generally really pleased with the house and would stay again if in the area. Towels, linen and beds really clean and comfortable. Access to the property/parking via the VERY narrow roads is very nervy, not leaving much room for manoeuvre - but these small access roads weren't built for the amount of cars now driving or parking on them.

  Cottage was fully decorated for Christmas which we never expected - lovely touch. Very quiet area but only a couple of minutes to the town centre. For dog walkers a nice walk up the river path into a wooded park area - take a good torch for a late walk with your dog! Will definitely look to book there again

  Very well situated, provides easy access to Cockermouth whilst being away from the hustle and bustle of town. The only negative we found - if you drive a larger vehicle it can be awkward managing access to and from the rather narrow street depending on how other residents on the street have parked ( I hasten to add that this is not a criticism, just an observation). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

  Well thought out, plenty of room, light & bright. Beds were amazing, had great nights sleep! Ideal location, parking is tight on front, but there is another parking space at rear, again can be tight. Loverly little patio, Plenty of room for Dog baskets and nice touch leaving bowls, towel etc for them. Bottle of wine nice touch. Loved standing at the bedroom window watching the river, very peaceful. People in area very friendly, 5mins walk to town with pubs, shops, bars etc, plus Lidl, Sainsbury's & Aldi local. Would Defiantly recommend :)

  and lovely river walks begin right outside the front door. Parking is 'snug' but there are three available spaces just for this cottage. Fully equipped with lots of modern touches including easy to control heating. Thoughtful touches especially the beautiful Christmas decorations. Had a lovely time.

• "What an amazing find!"

  ! Sykes never fails to find beautiful cottages but this cottage is outstanding! The location is perfect with the river at the side of the property. You can hear the soothing and relaxing sound of the river and the wildlife chatting throughout the day. The walks around the cottage are stunning, the centre of the town is two minutes away, everything is within walking distance. The cottage is of a very high standard with your every need catered for. The beds are very comfortable, sofas comfy, tv has all that you need for a movie day, kitchen facilities are amazing, showers of a high standard and it is immaculately clean. I would highly recommend this cottage. We booked again on the way home for next year. Don’t miss out on this little gem!!

  Cockermouth is a lovely small town with a quiet walk for the dog along the river to a riverside park. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance and a good base for exploring the Northern Lakes. The only issue was the narrow access to the rear parking space which was tricky for an estate car but manageable with care. The parking space at the front of the property was fine.

  It is clean, comfortable and has everything necessary for an enjoyable holiday in North West Lakeland. One thing which should be pointed out to guests is that the parking space at the rear of the property is only realistically accessible by small cars.

The location is within easy reach of the town, lakes and fells. Information about the parking space seemed conflicting but there is in fact a parking space in front of the cottage. Cockermouth is lovely town with plenty to do, interesting shops and good places to eat we had a lovely meal in Blocks Steak house to celebrate a birthday and would definitely recommend it ! Cockermouth is an excellent location to explore the Lakes , less busy than other towns . Wordsworth house is worth a visit and there are lovely walks by the river .

• "The cottage was well equipped clean and tidy, probably the best that we have stayed at."

  The only issue we had was the parking, narrow street not much room to maneuver and not knowing the street layout coupled with one road was close for building work. After saying this I would stay again and Cockermouth is a good place and met all our needs all within walking distance.

  Sykes went above and beyond to find alternative arrangements, and I so glad they did. The cottage was exquisite. I felt at home straight away. It has a lovely atmosphere, clean and very comfy beds. The town was friendly and lots to look at. Altogether it made our holiday and I will certainly go again.
