3 Customer Reviews

  • "We had a lovely stay at Manse cottage but found parking a bit risky, definitely need a banks man as traffic is rather speedy and busy on Main Street, still it is a beautiful area and not a problem for a younger couple."

  • "Easy instructions to reach cottage."

Lovely place to stay. We would like to say that we broke a glass during our stay, what would you like us to do? Thank you

  • "The internet connection was extremely temperamental and we had several days without any connection."

We contacted the owner who did try to resolve the problem, but in the end we had to wait for it to resolve itself.

About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
