“Once we were able to get into the property (the owner had changed the key code without telling yourselves - however a quick phone call remedied this).”

We were very pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of this property. The bed in the main bedroom was extremely comfortable - and large. As there were only the two of us, and the dog, we had loads of space. The property is ideally situated for Cockermouth (we are well acquainted with this area as up until last August we lived only 8 miles away). The property was clean and we loved the furnishings. We were very pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of this property. The bed in the main bedroom was extremely comfortable - and large. The property is ideally situated for Cockermouth (we are well acquainted with this area as up until last August we lived only 8 miles away). The property was clean and we loved the furnishings. We hope to return sometime later in the year. The only drawback would be the lack of an enclosed garden for the dog.

About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
