    Mrs Haynes

“A sympathetically restored, small but perfectly formed cottage on the road side at the entrance to the farm.”

Nicely furnished and very cosy. Beds were comfie and slept well. There is some road noise, but as it is a very small village so it is minimal. Main annoyance was the fridge could not be opened without moving the settee, and there was no storage for luggage. Apart from these wee things it was a lovely stay and the hosts greeted us with a nice welcome and some treats, which were exceedingly appreciated. The cottage is a great place to explore Carlisle, The Lakes, and Scotland. If you are looking for a spacious cottage to lounge around in, this is not the place. If you are looking for a lovely cosy homely base to explore the local area and take advantage of the walks on your doorsteps, then you could not ask for more.

Wythmoor Farm Cottages

A couple of outstanding cottages, set on Wythmoor Farm a Grade II listed building, in the hamlet of Stockdalewath, near Dalston, nine miles from the Great Border city of Carlisle. These superb, sandstone cottages are set on a non-working farm in beautifully rolling countryside and have been carefully created from old farm buildings, have exposed beams and have been furnished to a beautiful standard. With eco central heating, both are cosy and welcoming. Outside, each cottage has the shared use of an enclosed courtyard together with access to the owners’ garden. By arrangement with the owner, guests can enjoy a little pampering from the exclusive beauty salon on-site, and will even bake a delicious afternoon tea, individually prepared following your pampering. Flowing through the hamlet is the River Roe and there are lots of lovely paths and quiet country lanes to explore. The cottages are ideally placed to visit Carlisle, Hadrian’s Wall or Carlisle Racecourse and of course, the beautiful Lake District and the Solway Coast. A lovely pair of cottages, ideal for families and couples at any time of the year.
