  • “We came away (2 friends) for a peaceful, time out, relaxing change of scene, in the countryside, within easy distance of beautiful beaches and lakes.”

We had a perfect few days and left refreshed and happy. We enjoyed our stay so much that we will be again next year. Thank you to Sarah and to Rick for your hospitality.

The property

Cockermouth 3 miles.

The Cottage is a homely attached barn conversion based on Graysondale Farm, three miles from the town of Cockermouth in Cumbria, on the outskirts of the village Deanscales.

The warming interior and fabulous location make this the perfect stay for a small family to come and make the most of what Cumbria and the Lake District have to offer.

Spend the sunny days out in the lovely patio garden, with a range of seating, sit here and enjoy a refreshing drink.

About the location

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
