The property

Resting in the village of Ecclefechan is this detached, reverse-level Church conversion, Church House.

Featuring original Church features, this spacious property is an alternative setting for a group trip to this part of Dumfries and Galloway.

You enter the property through large original Church doors, before exploring one of the three ground-floor bedrooms; a stunning four posted bed with plenty of storage for guests to unpack, a spacious twin room with a television for a bit of extra relaxation and a double with a fancy dressing table so guests can get ready in style.

These ground-floor bedrooms are also complimented by a shower room, as well as a gym with mirrored wall and a range of weights, and a games room which boasts a pool table so you can challenge your loved ones.

As you climb up the stairs, there is a further four poster bedroom and bathroom with a gorgeous freestanding, roll-top bath as well as a walk-in shower so guests can choose to get ready in their own approach.

The reverse-level property has the kitchen/diner on the first floor which is certain to entice any budding chefs with a large space to cook up a storm and a traditional pew making a dining area for guests to enjoy there breakfast, alternatively the living/dining room has a table to seat all guests for an evening meal, as well as a lovely woodburning stove and original Church windows.

The quirky property is finished with a cinema room with original red pews and a large projected screen, making a really lovely place to have a relaxing evening whilst you enjoy your favourite film.

Outside there is a private driveway and a gated garden with lawn, gravel and furniture so you can enjoy a bottle of wine under the stars.

Church House is just a stone's throw away from the Thomas Carlyle's Birthplace which has been a National Trust property known as 'The Arched House' since 1936, as well as the shop for any essentials you may need during your stay and the Ecclefechan Hotel which serves food and drink, 17th century townhouse, making for a great evening out.

A short drive into the town of Annan which has a train station, a cinema, a museum, bars with views of the River Annan, and offers scenic coastal walks on the beach, with views over to the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The nearby market town of Dumfries boasts lots of interesting museums and art galleries, the 15th century Devorgilla Bridge with scenic views over the River Nith, and Dock Park has a mini-golf course.

Also in the area, you can discover the medieval Caerlaverock Castle with it's impressive twin-towered gatehouse and a moat, Mabie Farm Park which offers quad bikes, paddle boats and a petting zoo, or WWT Caerlaverock which is great for bird watching with observatories for barnacle geese, whooper swans and ospreys.

Ecclefechan is a small village famous for being the birth place of Thomas Carlyle's and since 1936 "The Arched House" has been a National Trust for Scotland tourist attraction. Ecclefechan lies at the foot of Burnswark, a large Caledonian hillfort besieged by the Roman army in 140 AD. The village has two hotels serving food and drink, a shop for any essentials, The ‘fechan Diner, a playground and a village hall. The village is in driving distance to the Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which offers scenic coastal walks. Whilst the market town of Dumfries is also nearby with a train station, the 15th century Devorgilla Bridge, lots of interesting museums including the house of Robert Burns which offers exhibitions and ample shops, bars and eateries all centre around the River Nith running through. Ecclefechan is a fantastic village for exploring this part of Scotland.
