The property

Emily's Nook is a comfortable home away from home in the north Lake District.

Offering bright and airy accommodation with rooftop views to the fells, this contemporary apartment is a luxurious way to enjoy this beautiful part of the world.

This delightful apartment is situated above the Black Lion, reputed to be one of the oldest traditional inns in Cumbria and oozing with character.

Whatever the time of year, Emily's Nook is perfect for a couple's getaway to the Lakes.

The apartment overlooks the village square, and is flooded with light from the large picture windows that make the most of the picturesque views.

Emily's Nook offers open plan living with squashy sofas that are perfect for curling up in front of the feature electric wood effect stove and a fully equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher and washer/dryer.

The master bedroom has a king sized double bed and a contemporary fully tiled shower with walk-in shower cubicle, wash basin and WC.

There's no garden at Emily's Nook, but with the warm and welcoming Black Lion downstairs and the peaceful and unspoiled northern fells just a stone's throw outside the delightful village of Ireby, there's plenty of outdoor space to enjoy.

The Black Lion serves a range of real ales, home cooked meals and home-baked breads, making it the ideal place to kick back and relax after a busy day in Lakeland. The North Lakes are the most tranquil area of the Lake District, with majestic Skiddaw and shimmering Bassenthwaite Lake virtually on your doorstep.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the central Lakes and the tourist beat, historic Cockermouth is a designated 'gem' town and is therefore preserved as part of the national heritage.

The Kirkgate Centre has a varied programme of art and film, and you can also visit the house where Wordsworth was born.

Head for vibrant Keswick for outdoor activities and museums, and don't miss a cruise on Derwentwater or a trip to the theatre by the lake. The Lake District is Britain's most popular country park and it's not difficult to see why.

There are scenic vistas, superb walking and cycling trails and world-class dining destinations everywhere you turn - head for the Sharrow Bay Hotel at romantic Lake Ullswater to celebrate that special occasion. Whatever time of year you choose to visit the Lake District, you'll always discover something new and magical.

And Emily's Nook at the Black Lion Inn is the ideal base to spend some quality time with your partner recharging your batteries and discovering the very best this spellbinding region has to offer.

About the location

Bassenthwaite 5 miles; Keswick 12 miles.

Ireby nestles in the peaceful fells of the northern Lake District, in the beautiful area to the north of Keswick known as 'Back of Skiddaw'. Once a thriving market town, with the market cross believed to date back to 1200, Ireby is now a truly unspoilt, peaceful fell village. The peaks of Great Calva and Knott look down on the village and the nearby Aughertree Fell was the site of a Bronze Age farm and the remains of a pre-Roman road are still in evidence, a unique and most complete settlement from the Iron Age period. Nearby Bassenthwaite Lake itself, while boasting gentler scenery than others in the region, is still one of the most picturesque places in England. Places of interest nearby include Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Lake with small open-air theatre (reputedly frequented by poets such as Tennyson and Wordsworth), Trotters Farm, and Dodd Wood. Most of the attractions of the Lake District are within easy reach and the quieter Northern Fells are almost on the doorstep. The nearby towns of Cockermouth and Keswick, both have weekly markets and offer a good range of amenities. The scenery of the Yorkshire Dales is within touring distance, as is the city of Carlisle and Hadrians Wall.
