    “The cooker knobs were very greasy and there were hairs stuck to the headboard from previous occupants .”

    A few cobwebs and the frames of the velux windows could do with a good clean!but overall and lovely stay. Special point the pub below was fairly quiet. Apart from the access passage the smell from the bar toilet!!! The views were exceptional

The property

Emily's View is a charming apartment over two floors, located above the Black Lion pub in the village of Ireby.

Located in the Northern Lakes, Ireby is near Keswick and Cockermouth, with plenty to see and do in the local area.

This is a light and airy apartment with lovely views, wooden floors, original beams and quirky sloping ceilings.

Perfect for a couples or family holiday, the apartment is spacious and well-decorated.

The welcoming and comfortable sitting room overlooks the village square and has Freeview TV and a DVD player.

There's a charming separate dining room, with a traditional wooden table and chairs, and the kitchen is fully equipped for perfect family meals.

The beautifully tiled bathroom has a shower over the bath, a hand basin and a WC.

Upstairs, you'll find the gorgeous master bedroom, with a king-sized bed, traditional beams, sloping ceiling and roof windows for views of the countryside and the stars.

Another second double bedroom also has a king-sized bed and the same original beams, quirky ceilings and roof windows.

Finishing off the second floor, there's a second sitting room where you can also see traditional exposed beams.

While the property has no garden, you'll be spoiled for choice with walks for miles and beautiful countryside to enjoy.

For things to enjoy literally on your doorstep, you can't do much better than the Black Lion itself for home baking, gorgeous meals and real ales.

And, after a hearty meal, you can take in the country lanes and walks at a leisurely pace, or go for something more strenuous by exploring Skiddaw Mountain.

Close by, you'll find Caldbeck, Keswick, Cockermouth and Bassenthwaite with a variety of attractions and walks, including sailing on Bassenthwaite Lake, the museums and parks of Keswick and Keswick Climbing Wall and the Treasure Trail.

Families will love the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure over in Whinlatter Forrest Park.

Explore Helvellyn and Grisedale Pike if you're feeling fit, and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Northern Lakes.

Ireby nestles in the peaceful fells of the northern Lake District, in the beautiful area to the north of Keswick known as 'Back of Skiddaw'. Once a thriving market town, with the market cross believed to date back to 1200, Ireby is now a truly unspoilt, peaceful fell village. The peaks of Great Calva and Knott look down on the village and the nearby Aughertree Fell was the site of a Bronze Age farm and the remains of a pre-Roman road are still in evidence, a unique and most complete settlement from the Iron Age period. Nearby Bassenthwaite Lake itself, while boasting gentler scenery than others in the region, is still one of the most picturesque places in England. Places of interest nearby include Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Lake with small open-air theatre (reputedly frequented by poets such as Tennyson and Wordsworth), Trotters Farm, and Dodd Wood. Most of the attractions of the Lake District are within easy reach and the quieter Northern Fells are almost on the doorstep. The nearby towns of Cockermouth and Keswick, both have weekly markets and offer a good range of amenities. The scenery of the Yorkshire Dales is within touring distance, as is the city of Carlisle and Hadrians Wall.
