The property

Jocks Hoose is an idyllic end-terrace cottage near the Scottish town of Dumfries.

This cottage is just as suitable for small families as it is for friends, its superb layout is ideal and its location with fantastic views near the town and access to some excellent pubs make it exceptional.

With magnificent views across the surrounding countryside and river, you won't want to leave.

With the comfortable beds, you are guaranteed a good night's rest.

Locally, you can explore Dumfries Museum, which is the largest museum in the region, steeped in history.

It has extensive collections relating to the locals and details of the pre-historic era.

It also has the world's oldest working Camera Obscura.

This 30-acre sculptured garden, created by landscape architect and theorist Charles Jencks offers a wonderful setting inspired by modern cosmology.

For a taste of history, venture towards Caerlaverock Castle, a moated triangular castle, which was first built in the 13th century and is classed as one of Scotland's great medieval castles, with an impressive twin-towered gatehouse and moat.

Jocks Hoose is ideal for a couple or small family to enjoy the village of Glencaple and explore the local area of Caerlaverock.

Slightly north is the attractive market town of Dumfries, a fine place to base your holiday near as it is lined with charming architecture and a number of different shops, pubs and eateries to take advantage of. The renowned Gretna Green is within touring distance, sat on the England-Scotland border and is worth a visit. Lovers of the outdoors can venture towards the Galloway Forest Park, an idyllic landscape, perfect for nature lovers with much to see and do.
