  • "The on street parrking is a little random, one day parked dirctltly outside the next day parked in the next street, there isn't anything that you can do about that, but please trim the hedge next to the front door."

It's so overgroon that it's imposible to go in or out without getting wet as its so overgrown.

  • "This property should not be let again until it has been thoroughly cleaned and properly maintained."

On arrival it was clear the property is in need of attention. The front metal gate is unable to open properly partly due to the hedge next to it being very over grown. The forecourt has gravel and weeds in it and can in no way be described as a garden (as in the details of this flat). The front door is dirty and needs painting. We found the bedding and towels to be freshly laundered. The right-hand Venetian blind in the living room is broken. The portable heater does not work (the temperature during our stay went down to -4). The property was superficially clean, but not in the detail. Dirty cups were in the kitchen cupboard and a pair of scissors were covered in thick debris. Old crumbs in the toaster. The pull cord in the toilet next to the kitchen was dirty and discoloured. The radiator was very rusty. This was due to urine splash, but would not have got in this state if it had been cleaned after each occupancy. There were other rusty corners harbouring dirt. A very rusty soap/towel holder bracket was fixed to the wall without its tool. Just a dirt trap. Light switches and door handles throughout were dirty. A kitchen wall was spattered with what looked like coffee stains, but could have been anything. The heating thermostat in the lounge was missing. The thermostat on the hall radiator was broken and unusable. Bedside lights in the main bedroom flashed on and off continually. They could not be used and would be a hazard to anyone with epilepsy. Standard lamps in the lounge and main bedroom had only one bulb on each working. The top bulb fitting was broken on the bedroom one. Deep cracks on the ceiling and wall of the lounge suggest that the building should be surveyed for subsidence. In any event, these cracks need to be fixed before the property is let again. A booking condition was that we check out by 10:00am as is usual. The demand that we should do so by 09:00am was unacceptable. The further demand that we should bag up bed linen, etc. has nothing to do with safety. Your cleaner/housekeeper should wear gloves when doing this job, just as they should when cleaning. This is normal work at the end of a let. Attempting to place responsibility on the guest is unacceptable and could result in claims of items being missing. Photographs were taken shortly after we arrived confirming all of these comments. They were sent to the letting agents who did not respond.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. I am sorry to read of the problems you encountered during your stay. I have had a look at your file and cannot see any communications about these errors found. If we had been informed we would have attended on the day of arrival to provide an urgent re-clean. I have had a look at your booking emails and can see that check-out time is listed as 10 am with no request for laundry to be bagged up. We will ask our housekeeping team to ensure there are no notes left from covid times with these old requests on them. However, we always advise guests to contact us on the numbers provided if there is any confusion. We find that the pictures online are reflective of the outdoor space provided. Thank you for bringing these points to our attention, and we will request our maintenance team to attend the property and assess. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

  • "The flat is in a great location with good parking."

There is lots of great information made available too such as places to eat etc. The kitchen is lovely and well stocked with utensils and crockery. The bedrooms were really comfortable and clean. However, the living room really needs redecorating. The sofa, carpet and dining table chairs appear grubby and there are lots of cracks and cobwebs and the paint looks old and stained / yellow making it feel darker. One bathroom had lots of rust on radiator and wall and the other had dirty grout. If the bathrooms and living room / hall were updated / decorated this would be a fabulous welcoming place and worthy of the 4star. There are lots of positives but the negatives really brought it down.

  • "In a good quiet location but close to the town centre."

Well equipped with appliances and pots and pans etc. Good sized bedrooms but the shower rooms were a bit cosy. The place could do with some serious maintenance/decor especially in the lounge we're the cracks in the wall/ceiling looked to be more than just decorators cracks making it look a bit tired. Don't get me wrong I liked the place and would use it again but it needs some money spending on it. The kitchen was excellent being clean and modern looking. Apart from the odd cobweb cleanliness was very good and the flat was well prepared ready for arrival.

  • "Perfect location - just a 5 min walk to Keswick centre."

On street parking but we got a space right outside which was great. Flat was deceptively big and had all the amenities you need for a comfortable family stay. The ensuite, Chromecast and good WiFi were a godsend. Small criticisms: Spare bed duvet was filthy but only realised after removing covers before departure. Not pleasant. Spiders webs and very dusty blinds suggested a lack of attention to cleaning. And overall it starting to feel a little tired in places. Still, we felt it was good value and enjoyed our stay.

  • "The apartment is in a good location, and has plenty of accommodation and room."

The facilities/services and cleanliness are as described. The boiler didn’t work on the the first 3 days, although Sykes/Lakes cottages customer services responded well, to have to regularly re-pressure the system was an irritant. However, the decoration and white goods are dated and the overall feeling is of a tired apartment requiring updating. In particular, there was a smell of “wet dog” when we entered the apartment, the freezer is noisy and disturbs you in the night in the rear bedroom. The kitchen and bathrooms are particularly tired, peeling countertops, dirty grout, rusting radiators. There are no pictures of the “main” bathroom on the website which is small and has fittings which are coming away from the wall. There are the usual irritations of rationed washing up liquid, fewer dishwasher tablets than the number of days stays etc…. I will not be making a rebooking

Thank you for your feedback - we appreciate all feedback, both positive and negative. We can only apologise for the boiler causing problems, but delighted LCH were able to help. We take on board your comments re the bathrooms and kitchen, and although it’s a shame it wasn’t in time for your stay, we are actually having new ones fitted within the next month, along with a new boiler! We hope you may reconsider and visit us another time. Property Owner

  • "Our first impression of the exterior of the property was disappointing, no garden or flowers and on street parking."

This caused a problem when packing to leave as we could not park outside the cottage. The interior was good, I liked the painting on the wall, was it Derwentwater? I liked the shower rooms and well equipped kitchen and gas cooker. I could not fit a days pots into the dishwasher which was half the size of a normal one.

  • "Archers was the perfect accommodation for us: a couple and a family of three with an 18 month old."

The apartment is clean, spacious and quiet and only a 5 minute walk from the centre of Keswick and its amenities. All the parking is on the surrounding streets and, although it was busy, we had no trouble finding nearby spaces throughout the week. The two double bedrooms were spacious and comfortable as was the sitting room at the front of the house. The high chair and cot were provided as promised and were of good quality. The kitchen was very well equipped and the two bathrooms suited us really well. We had one issue with one of the bathroom lights and were really impressed with the help we received from Sykes Cottages. An electrician was sent the next day and we received several calls from the office to keep us updated and check that we were happy with the fix. I would have no hesitation in booking Archers for a Keswick stay in the future and highly recommend Sykes Cottages.

  • "WE thought the layout of the apartment worked well for two couples, each bedroom having its own shower room and being at either end of the apartment it meant each couple had a good degree of privacy."

The towels although clean were not of particularly good quality At arrival the apartment seemed clean but we later found that radiators in one of the bedrooms and the lounge had drink splattered on them - which we wiped and removed. The skirting boards in the bedrooms needed cleaning. We lost an ear-ring in the sofa and in searching for it lifted the sofa cushions to find a coloured pencil and various other debris.

Glad that they were there because I had been feeling it was a bit mean not to have them included, for the price we were paying. Archers was fine for our needs: the ground floor en_suite bedroom proving ideal for our partially disabled guest. The house was comfortable and well equipped. We especially appreciated the fact that the central heating system had been pre programmed to come on after 6o'clock until 9.30 ish. It was lovely and warm. Thank you for all your provision.
