  • "A very comfortable and well appointed lodge in a quiet location with a great view of Latrigg."

    We enjoyed the variety of birds on the feeder and the wildlife in the field which included red squirrels, rabbits and, on one occasion, a deer. An enjoyable and relaxing holiday, despite the mixed weather.

  • "Absolutely loved our stay and didn't want to come home."

    Lodge has everything needed for a relaxing break in The Lakes and fitted our party of 4 well although is kitted out for 6. Short walk to Keswick meant car could stay put. The views to Skiddaw range were amazing with a sense of achievement after walking them direct from the door. Great to see how the weather impacted the look of the scenery. Loved the visits from the birds - including the pheasant and watching the 3 random sheep and horse. Would have no hesitation in recommending Burr Ghyll and I'll definitely be looking to stay again.

  • "27 Burr Ghyll is a very nice, well equipped lodge."

    The decking area is spacious and the view is amazing. The boot tidies are a great addition for walkers. The lodge is well maintained and we would recommend a stay to anyone.

  • "Lovely Lodge with the most amazing views of the mountains."

    Well equipped with everything you would need. The site is in a very good position for visiting other places in the area Ambleside,Cockermouth,Derwentwater etc Walking distance from Keswick. My daughter even walked and climbed to the top of Skiddaw from the lodge and back. We had a brilliant time hope to be back.

  • "Another super stay in this lodge cabin ."

    Everything and more you could possibly wish for could be found in the kitchen . Well kept and cared for throughout. A comfy living room and bedrooms. But of course the main selling point of this lodge is the decking area and the views of the surrounding hills can't be beaten . The location of the park is ideal for anyone wanting gto explore the area. Thank you for letting us stay here again . We will be back.

  • "Mostly the lodge was alright but share a previous review that the 3 piece suite could be updated."

    Also the duvet on the double bed should be replaced as it was noisy when there was any movement which I found a bit annoying . Having said that we all enjoyed our holiday and wish to thank you .

    The duvets in Burr Ghyll are all 3 in 1 feather/down type duvets. We inspect all our bedding regularly and replace when/if damaged. Likewise, we inspect our furniture regularly. We stay ourselves several times a year in Burr Ghyll and the lounge suite is extremely comfortable (even reclines) even if it is aesthetically old fashioned. Property Owner

  • "An excellent holiday lodge."

    Nicely positioned within easy walk of Keswick facilities, yet on a small quiet site with great views of the fells and good parking. A couple of neighbouring "energetic" kids were tamed at the start. Refurbished to a high standard the lodge had all the facilities you would ever need, with a comprehensive guide on use of all equipment. We will definately return and recommend Burr Ghyll lodge. Thanks

  • "All well really but the wardrobe in the e n-suite bedroom needed tidied and dusting ."

    It would have been good if we could have had earlier entry however we understand the present situation with covid at the moment. We would like to thank the owners for letting the lodge to us.

The property

Burr Ghyll is a traditional pine cabin situated at the popular Burnside Park on the outskirts of Keswick.

It enjoys a lovely position with uninterrupted views to the nearby peaks of Latrigg and Skiddaw. The open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area has a snug and comfortable feel to it, with patio doors leaving out to your front decking, outside furniture is provided so you can sit and enjoy the views to your hearts content.

The living room offers ample seating with a three-seater, two-seater sofa and one armchair, making it the perfect place to relax in at the end of the day with a cup of tea and some local cakes.

The fitted kitchen and dining table comfortably seating six, ensures that preparing and enjoying a home cooked meal is a breeze.

At the end of the day retreat to one of the three bedrooms, the master bedroom offers a double bed, built in furniture and en-suite shower room with sink and W/C.

The second and third have full size twin beds with a small dressing table and wardrobe and TV’s.

In addition to the en-suite there is a further house shower room with electric shower, sink, toilet and electric towel rail. Burnside Park is a development of traditional pine log cabins located on the outskirts of Keswick and just a short 10/15 minute walk from the town centre.

Keswick is the capital of the north Lakes where you will find many fabulous shops, bars, restaurants, a cinema, theatre and a wide variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Derwentwater is a short distance away.

There is a Pub with restaurant and an American diner (serving breakfasts) just 5 minutes walk away.

You can walk up Latrigg Fell from the lodge door.

Burnside Park is located at the foot of Latrigg and Skiddaw in landscaped gardens with streams running through and has magnificent views across to the fells.

About the location

KESWICK

Bassenthwaite 7 miles, Ullswater 16.6 miles; Cockermouth 13 miles.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
