    In 15+ years of self-catering we can safely say this has been the most well-equipped place we've stayed at - the owners really have thought of everything! The location is perfect, only a few minutes from the centre of Keswick, and the supermarket Booths is a stone-throw away, which proved very handy on the night we needed to stock up on some essentials. Derwentwater is a pleasant fifteen minute-walk from the flat, and there are a number of beautiful spots within a short drive; some of the places we visited were Cat Bells, Castlerigg, Whinlatter Forest and Aira Force. The flat was a wonderful place to return to after a day's walking; it is clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated and in peaceful surroundings. The views are spectacular and our children in particular loved waking up to the sight of pheasants and ducks outside their bedroom window. We don't normally visit the same place twice as we like to experience different areas but for this place we may have to make an exception! Highly recommended!

  • "Despite extensive difficulty contacting Sykes to re-arrange the holiday due to Covid, which was very stressful."

    Matters were eventually sorted to our satisfaction. The accommodation itself was extremely handy for the town centre especially with on site parking. Situated on the 3rd floor with no lift made lugging luggage up the stairs difficult also the main seating in the lounge was well worn with sunken padding which was not comfortable to sit on. Overall, the accommodation was very good and met our expectations.

  • "A lovely top floor apartment on the edge the town centre with some fine views of the surrounding fells particularly in the setting sun light."

    It is in a quiet spot but very convenient for accessing the facilities in Keswick being close to the local supermarkets and town centre amenities but having its own parking space. The apartment was comfortable, thoughtfully and generously equipped. Although more expensive for that time of year than most of the many Sykes cottages where we have stayed during recent years in other parts of the country it was probably the best. Although everything was there to be found, a guest welcome folder covering the usual familiarity issues would have made life easier in getting started. At the time of our visit there are some long term major construction works affecting roads into Keswick from the A66- perhaps some warning of these could be made in the key collection instructions (from Sykes offices in middle of the town centre on a market day) to help future users plan their arrival ! Whilst the Sykes website has good search facilities, once signed up for booking, expect many emails and popup adverts thereafter, some of which have little relevance, which are somewhat irritating.

    We have visited the flat several times before and are always so impressed with the level of comfort, the location (walking distance to Catbells, Skiddaw and much else besides), the decor, and the reliable heating when required! The views of the mountains are also wonderful.

  • "Lovely apartment in the centre of Keswick."

    Really well stocked kitchen (the best we've ever had anywhere!) but we were left almost no washing up liguid at all (disappointing) and for a 10 night stay we were left 1 toilet roll (also disappointing, I don't expect to have to buy washing up liquid or toilet roll for a holiday rental). The apartment itself was lovely although you really need to get a "welcome pack" put in there with instructions of where things are (bins etc and whether the guests are expected to empty and take things down or whether the cleaners will). The duvet on the double bed was far too heavy for this time of year, a lighter one would have been appreciated. And only providing feather pillows, it'd be worth mentioning this on your website, i'm mildly allergic but wasn't warned of this. overall a great stay tho, really enjoyed our trip.

Bassenthwaite 7 miles, Ullswater 16.6 miles; Cockermouth 13 miles.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
