  • "The location of this cottage is perfect."

Our original booking price virtually doubled after the Covid 19 forced us to move the date one year ahead. We found only being able to enter at 4 pm and leave by 9 am unacceptable. Top hotels in the area allow arrival at 3 pm and vacation by 11 am. Unless these times are reviewed and changed, we will not be returning.

It is unfortunate that we have had to change the times due to increased cleaning due to Covid. This is under revue and when we do not have back to back bookings we do try to give some flexibility in these times. I understand your point about hotels but public areas can be cleaned at any time and staff are dealing with bedrooms for the turn round and generally have a much larger staff at their disposal than just one house. This is a big house right in the middle of Keswick and is very very popular with guests. One of the reasons that it is popular is the standard of cleaning in the property. Guests are delighted to come into a beautifully cleaned house and the feedback is excellent. It is not easy to find excellent cleaners and the cleaner does need as much time as possible to have flexibility with her workload. However she is very responsive re flexibility if this is possible. • "For the price we paid for the house, we expected higher standards of accommodation."

The initial impression was that the house needs refreshed from the outside in. The front door badly needs attention; it is fitted with old fashioned secondary glazing that prevents windows being opened (the sitting room had cardboard wedged into the glazing); the kitchen was equipped well enough but with chipped plates and just looked tired. Upstairs, the bedrooms have been furnished with what looks like the remains of someone’s house. The shower room door is inadequate and doesn’t close properly. We had to unblock the shower. The TV didn’t work but was fixed quickly. However it still needs updating. There’s a DVD player but no DVDs, which could easily be bought from charity shops. Wrong information was provided about the bin collection. The days have changed. The photographs don’t match the website. The house is in s great location, but if you’re going to charge nearly £900 in July for a week, I’d expect it to look much better than it did and to have more things as standard, eg hairdryer, coffee machine, DVDs. We were disappointed with it.

Kitchen well stocked . Beds comfortable and clean . New furniture downstairs which was lovely . If anything I would say paint works looking very tired other that it fitted our Christmas week perfect

  • "This cottage is in an ideal location , it’s lovely and warm , constant hot water, plenty of towels and kitchen well equipped, great for dogs , slight issues are the windows rattle and bang can keep you awake, the street can be noisy through the night and the beds/pillows are not as comfy as they could be ."

  • "The property in itself is v good."

The fact that it does not have a downstairs toilet is a negative point considering that it can house 12 people. We only thought it was a big issue as one of our friends had a fall and fracture during this weekend .. getting upstairs was a big issue But the most importany thing I would like to highlight is that there definitely needs to be some kind of bigger parking space. Trying to park was a complete NIGHTMARE. Again i might have ended up there on a wrong weekend, it rained like there was no tomorrow. I still think this property should have a bigger private space allocated. The space behind the cottage can house only a small car. Lastly.. the shower over the bath is a trickle , guess it’s an electric shower The walk-in is great and powerful

  • "The only problem that occurred was that the individual shower worked well once then would only go to extreme temperatures after that either very hot or very cold so we just used the main shower in the bath after that."

However the cottage is very comfortable extremely well located, I could see how parking could be an issue but this is identified when booking so we were expecting to park on the road. The cottage had everything we required and plenty of room.

  • "The house on the whole was fine."

The cleanliness really was a huge disappointment. The cupboards where the crockery was kept was dirty, a layer of dust was evident, almost like the house hadn't been used for a while. I had to wash the things we were using beforehand. If that wasn't enough to contend with, even worse, was the bedding. Virtually every bedsheet had stains of some sort on them, it was disgusting! I do have photos of the sheets. We put the heating on and slept on top of the beds. I have a very good reason for not complaining at the time, as this was booked on my behalf, and I didn't/couldn't evolve them with it for very personal reasons. If you could send me an email address I can send you the photos.

Many thanks for your feedback, we have fed your comments back to the owner in order to maintain our property standards. Your views are as valued as your initial booking so that we can keep providing the best UK holiday experience. Your points will also be reviewed to ensure that our properties are up to standard. • "This is by far the most disappointing property I have ever stayed in."

From the entrance with the missing gate and the front door in need of a paint job everything went down hill from there. There was a terrible musty smell upon entering ~ especially when sitting at the dining room table. What could have been worse than that! The living room furniture was worn and dirty. The dining room chairs were very uncomfortable with old cushions that we didn't eve want to sit on. There was dog hair on one the upstairs beds and the sheets were soiled. The entire property is worn and very much in need of updating. The kitchen appears to have been recently updated so was the one positive room. The location was very good and that is the ONLY reason I would ever recommend this property. We were very excited to leave. I left a list of necessary repairs at the management office.
