“We arrived to find ALL the wheelie bins completely full which wasn’t great.”

And during our stay they were not emptied which meant we had no choice but to stack all the recycling up in the laundry room. The house was great but only had 2 showers which for a house for 8 it could do with another shower facility. And finally the downstairs bathroom window has clear glass in the window! Outdoor furniture needs replacing as at least 2 of the chairs have broken. I appreciate we are at the end if the season but it still needs attention. Otherwise the location is good and the views from the house are fabulous.

The property

This delightfully detached townhouse is situated in an elevated position overlooking Keswick. With stunning views of the Lake District, Skiddaw Heights is ideal for large families looking for a quiet retreat among the fells and fens of Cumbria. On the ground floor is a well-equipped kitchen where you can cook using fresh produce from the local town of Keswick, enjoying your meal in the formal dining area with views over the lake, before relaxing in front of the log effect cast iron fire in the lounge.

With one bedroom and a family shower room downstairs, the remaining three bedrooms (one with en-suite and Juliet balcony) are on the first floor, along with another family bathroom.

At the back of the house, you'll find a private garden, with a patio leading into the dining area and a panoramic view over Keswick and Derwentwater.

With comfortable garden furniture provided, it's a fine place to wind down after a long day walking around the Cumbrian hills. A short walk downhill takes you to the charming town of Keswick, nestled on the shores of Derwentwater, one of the Lake District's most enchanting waters, where you can take a lake cruise or picnic on the shore.

Keswick town centre hosts a number of visitor attractions, including parks, museums, boutique shops, a cinema, pubs, and quaint cafes. Keswick is situated between two of the Lake Districts most popular lakes, Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater and surrounded by fells and hills that make it an ideal spot for a walking trip, where you can soak in the stunning natural beauty for which the area is renowned.

You can also take a short drive to the Norman market town of Cockermouth and visit the Wordsworth museum for a day of history and culture.
