    Located within easy walking access to Keswick. Very spacious, clean and well equipped. Views amazing and so restorative! Would not hesitate to recommend. Only 2 minor things to improve would be: a dishwasher would have been great (especially in view of Covid situation) and also ensuring that the garden was fully enclosed and a front gate present due to a very busy main road (especially important in view of the property being pet friendly on booking). It is a shame as it now appears non-pet friendly, we may not be able to return.

The property

The View, Fell Close is a delightful holiday home resting on the outskirts of Keswick and just a short distance to Keswick town centre and Derwentwater.

This holiday accommodation is a great find for couples or groups of friends looking to come together in an area that is famed for its excellent outdoor pursuits.

The main feature of the property is the breath-taking views it beholds with the fells of Skiddaw, Latrigg and Catbells all on view from multiple rooms.

At the end of each bracing day, head into the modern kitchen where an array of amenities are on hand to assist the chef of the group whip up your favourite dishes.

The living/dining room is a sociable space for the entire group to gather to enjoy each other’s company over a home-cooked meal, a bottle of wine, catching up on the latest box set on the TV or simply admiring the stunning and breathtaking views, for those who may need to work whilst on holiday there is a workstation with desk lamps.

The ground floor garden room is a relaxing space with king size bed where you can also dine, relax watching TV or unwind with a good book with French doors leading out on to the slate patio and windows which give a constant connection with the breathtaking views of the surrounding fells, lakes and countryside.

As the evening draws to a close, find two elegant first floor double bedrooms, complete with all the necessary furnishings and fixtures, with one enjoying an added benefit of an en-suite shower room.

The garden at Fell Close has been designed as an extension of the house itself, being a glorious spot to relish in alfresco dining and to continue to be captivated by the view.

If you can bring yourself to leave this exceptional holiday cottage, head into the town centre of Keswick, where you will be spoilt for choice by the selection of independent shops, local cafés, pubs and restaurants, as well as a collection of tourist attractions to suit all, including Keswick Museum, Derwent Pencil Museum and the optical illusion exhibition Puzzling Place.

Don your walking boots whilst here and be sure to tackle one or two of the surroundings fells, which include Latrigg, Catbells, Skiddaw, Coledale Horseshoe and Blencathra, or for something more leisurely, head to the beautifully kept Hope Park for a gentle stroll and a go at pitch-and-putt golf.

For those feeling adventurous, head to Derwentwater, where there are an array of watersport opportunities, including paddle-boarding, kayaking and canoeing.

Other local attractions include catching a show at the Theatre By The Lake, the Castlerigg Stone Circle and the Go Ape tree top adventure in Whinlatter forest, slightly further afield you will find Ambleside and Bowness-on-Windermere, where you will find more wonderful things to see and do.

Please note there is a section at the bottom of the garden which has been left overgown on purpose to attract wildlife. The patio is raised therefore small children will require supervision at all times.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
