  • "A lovely property, large, comfortable and well equipped."

Great location just on the edge of Keswick, easy walking distance to the town centre, and not noisy or busy. Having a driveway to park is a bonus. On the whole very clean, but just a few areas for improvement, e.g. the cleaner obviously hadn't been into the bathroom and closed the door to clean behind it. Also, it was such a shame that the big picture windows were dirty (looked like dog nose smears) as it detracted from the view, which was amazing otherwise. It took me quite a while to find the heating thermostat when the weather got cold, that should have been included in the house information (it's high on the wall outside the living room!). The wi-fi code given on the laminated sheet in the property is also wrong, you need to look on the back of the hub. Apart from those minor things, which are easily remedied, the property was tremendous. Highly recommended.

  • "There were no clear instructions as to what to do with the black waste bin, I did check the council website but they said the property was not entitled to a collection."

The property claimed to be dog free, however there was evidence of a dog(s) as we found some sort of bone near the sofa and dog hairs throughout. Although there was a good amount of crockery, this was not matched by the cutlery and felt there should be an equal amount of knives and forks etc to plates.

  • "Great central location for Keswick and the Lakes."

House was well presented and had everything other than bin and laundry bags. The views from this property are stunning and look out over the 'Barrow' and Cat Bells at the rear of the property. Easy walking distance to town centre and the Co-Op and Booths are both within walking distance with a local Spar just 100 yards away for essentials. It is a shame the property no longer accepts pets, possibly due to the damage caused to the leather sofas in the past!

  • "Lovely comfortable holiday house with the best views, the upstairs living room with its amazing picture window being a fabulous sanctuary to absorb the vista ."

    Ideal location too

We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our house. The ability to construct the upstairs living room, with its views over Catbells, Causey Pike and Grizedale Pike, during the 2020/21 winter season was one of the main reasons that we brought the property last year with a view towards moving in permanently when we retire in 2022. • "Beautiful house ideal location and amazing views from front and back, lovely enclosed garden ."

We enjoyed our stay and would love to come back but wont be possible now its pet free

We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at our house and can't help but agree about the views - we relocated the TV point and rearranged the furniture when we refurbished the property over the 2020/21 winter season so that we could enjoy the views of Skiddaw while relaxing in the lounge. The decision to stop accepting pets (except for existing bookings) was a tough one but we felt that it would help keep the refurbishment works that we undertook in 'tip top' condition for all guests. Loved the “chill out room” The garden needed some attention but lovely views from the front and back of the house Very easy to get into town and to drive out to sightsee Would love to return but now not taking pets

We're glad that you loved the upstairs "chill out room". I'm sorry that you felt that the garden needed some attention; a gardener usually visits the property once a fortnight to keep everything looking tidy but was, unfortunately, unable to come round the week before your stay. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed staying here, and would have loved to stay again but as the house is now not pet friendly this will not be possible."

Our small dog really settled well in the house and enjoyed the enclosed garden making it an ideal place, however if the two of us came without our daughter and her dog this would be too big and expensive. We’ll have to research your website to try and find another suitable property is the area.

  • "House was very clean on arrival, comfy beds, nice fluffy white towels."

Great mountain views at the rear of the property and lovely, spacious garden. Incessant noise of the traffic from the nearby A66 should be mentioned in the info. However we couldn't hear this when windows were closed. Very disappointed on arrival to find, having spent £1,000 for one week that there was no washing-up liquid and only a token 3 dishwasher tablets supplied. This just feels tight and unwelcoming. This house sleeps 6 people but the double bed in the box room takes up the entire room so 2 people wouldn't be able to move around in this room at same time - very cramped. More crockery and mugs would be helpful along with some pyrex bowls for microwave use. There were no pegs for the outside washing line and no airer for drying clothes inside. Given the chances of rain during a week in the Lakes these items should be supplied. We couldn't find the key for the rear patio door. The blinds are broken in the sun room so we couldn't pull these up to enhance the view which was a shame. Some light bulbs weren't working. There were spares in the drawer so we replaced them ourselves but this is really a maintenance person's job, not something we want to be doing whilst on holiday. The 2 houseplants in the porch were both completely dead and others in the house needed lots of TLC (why have houseplants in a holiday let?). The top bathroom sink is not draining properly. There were no instructions for the property. It would have been helpful to have had some info about the heating timings and controls (boiler is locked away in the garage). Overall, this is a spacious, well located house with (for us) the rear views making up for all the little niggles. Hideously overpriced for what it is though.

  • "Very comfortable house with superb views, a short walk from the town centre."

Despite pretty awful weather at times Whitbeck was a great base to return to. Could have done with extra set of plates etc. to avoid running the dishwasher frequently. Would be happy to return.
