"We like the house Wrenville in Keswick."
We ware verry happy there. We have been there with 4 persons. Sometimes we missed another toilet apart from the bathroom. That 's our only wish. Thank you that we could use Wrenville. Jan de Ruiter Nunspeet Holland
"A lovely light airy accommodation and very convenient for going into Keswick."
It was clean and uncluttered and well equipped. It was very hot while we were there and for us the downside was having no pleasant place to sit outside and the noise of the busy road when we had windows open. There was also no paper and cardboard recycling container. 13.5 tog quilts on beds were far to hot and uncomfortable.
Thank you for your comments. As the property is a commercial business and not a private residence, the waste is collected by a private company that sort through all waste from one bin and separating at their depo. We are glad that you enjoyed the accommodation and it's locality. We will update the housekeeping team to review the duvet weight. Lakes Cottage Holidays Owner Relations Expert Property Owner
"In knife block the knives had rust on them so need replacing , a shower mat needed as slippery ."
Beds slide across wooden floor very easily so need to be careful and smoke alarm goes off even with windows open and extractor on . Saying all that the property is absolutely lovely and would definitely return , beds so comfortable, so central to lovely Keswick and weather was amazing
"A good sized property which is in a fantastic location , town is just a short walk away and so much to do on your door step."
The house had everything we needed only thing I think it needs is some home furnishings as it feels empty but that is a minor thing. Beds were comfy and kitchen well equipped. We had a great stay.
"Great accommodation apart from the noisy floorboards, okay if you all get up at the same time!"
! Brilliant location for the town, lake etc. We were really lucky with the weather, walked every day and went to the theatre on one evening. Hope to come back again soon.
Thank you for your comments, we are pleased to read that you enjoyed your week in the Lakes. We hope to welcome you again. The Lakes Cottage Holidays Owner Relations Team Property Owner
"Well maintained, bright house, close to the centre of things with parking."
The only drawbacks were that it is on a busy road and a checkout time of 9am is quite cheeky. Would certainly stay again.
"Great location, clean & tidy on arrival ."
Minor problems which seem to have not been addressed (blinds , fire not working ) but wouldn’t stop me booking the property again .
"Very well kept and clean property with all of the home comforts that would be expected - a real 'home from home'!"
"Our second stay in this wonderful cottage ."
great location so close to walks, lake and town very clean and comfortable loved it!
"We absolutely loved Wrenville."
The location was fantastic and the facilities provided everything we needed. The only very small suggestion would be a bigger television in the living area, simply because it’s such a large space.
"Excellent location,gorgeous views."
High quality equipment,I.e. washer and dryer. Couple of small niggles: Invest in better pillows.Cheap pillows now need replacing Time to replace the sofas, bit tired and worn.
"Really enjoyed our stay."
The good weather meant we weren't housebound and given it was only 4 days we ate out every night. Happy to take the bins around on Monday evening but the previous guest had left 3 black bags full of rubbish and a full black bin. I got one in a neighbours bin...the others weren't taken. Consequently, when I placed one in our bin it left little room for our rubbish when we left, though we didn't make much. It still meant we left the property with a bin bag that was there when we arrived! One of the blinds we couldn't open because the string was broken so we left all of them as we found them..just in case...All minor quibbles and we really enjoyed our stay.
"Great accommodation in an ideal location!"
"This is the third time we have stayed in Wrenville in the last 18 months and we were a little disappointed to discover that some of the previous (minor) issues still exist."
1. The Venetian blinds on the windows at the back of the house all need repairs to one or both of the cords as does the blind in the double bedroom. 2. The cutlery basket in the dishwasher needs replacing, many of the sections have big holes in the bottom which the cutlery falls through. 3. The plug chain in the kitchen sink has been broken ever since we have been going to the house. A small thing but does mean it is very difficult to remove the plug, usually had to employ a fork to pull the plug. 4. The wooden gate into the rear yard is starting to become unusable. The top hinge has come away from the wall and the inside part of the latch has disappeared, leaving a couple of sharp screws projecting on the inside of the gate. The gate can only be secured from the yard side by means of a suitable stone wedged under the gate. It cannot be secured from the outside. It is possible that these things haven’t been raised before and they barely impacted on our stay but felt time should be taken to raise them now.
"This house is advertised as having a patio/garden."
It doesn't. It has a small, dark and dingy back yard, with a gate you can't lock which is held shut by a rock. This is also where the bins live. It is not a pleasant space to sit in at all. Also, the house is on the Main Street which leads into Keswick, so handy for all you would want, but also extremely busy at almost all hours and very, very noisy - this should be made clear to anyone thinking they are coming to the lakes for some walking, then relaxing afterwards at home. It is unlikely to happen. The shower would not drain when we arrived. We had to buy and then put 2 bottles of bathroom drain unblocker through it to free it up. I do not expect to have to do this in a holiday rental. Also, the middle blind in the living room window that faces the back yard is broken, as are the blinds in both bedrooms, they don't freely or easily go up or down on the pulley. The storage drawer in the kitchen will not close properly and constantly catches the freezer door. The bottom line is this house has lots of potential, but needs a deep clean and some TLC. It is not up to scratch for the money charged. We have paid less for better holiday rentals all over the UK.
"Lovely modern, spacious and clean cottage."
Within a few minutes walk of the town centre. Beautiful park just across the road.
"Wrenvile is a very comfortable accommodation within easy access to all amenities."
We enjoyed lovely walks and meals locally and it was an excellent base to start our travels to further away attractions. The only negative is that the bedrooms face onto a relatively busy road which was not mentioned in the write up. The location of the property from the beautiful park opposite, the town of Keswick, and Derwentwater however, does make up for this.
Did not have to use the car. Lovely views from the upstairs windows making good use of the upside-down arrangement.
"Very clean and comfortable - great location"
"Had a wonderful week the cottage was in an ideal location so close to town, park and only few minutes from the lake can't wait to come back!"
"Excellent holiday cottage, very pleasant especially upstairs, great location, handy parking place."
Only feedback is that it is important for you to let your customers know what night to put out the bins. We woke early one morning to the sound of the rubbbish truck driving away. Bins weren’t emptied and were overflowing by the end of the week.
Clean and comfortable, great location for accessing Keswick centre and the nearby fells.
"This was our second stay at Wrenville."
Comfortable, clean accommodation. Reasonably equipped for those wanting to dine in. Ideally located for Keswick centre and beautiful Fitz park opposite. Upside down accommodation gives views of the surrounding fells. We appreciated from Sykes the pre-stay advice and tips for our holiday, very useful. Private car parking space ideal in such a busy, popular area.
"Noisy road, unloved dirty kitchen trays and utensils dirty and toilet brush faeces on and round outside toilet dirty they came with new brush but did not clean."
Dirty old towels and tea towels. We’ve stayed in better for less.
"We appreciated being advised in advance about the parking situation, i."
E. Roadworks at the front of the property meant it could only be accessed by road from the rear which then meant a long reverse out. We also appreciated the offer of a voucher to park at the local church although we didn't take advantage of this. Unfortunately we found that all four glass tumblers at the property had chips on the rim but were pleased with their speedy replacement within a few hours.
The accommodation is ideal for an outdoor holiday especially with the large downstairs utility room. Spacious living area that is modern and well equipped. The staff at Sykes were very helpful. Like the call the first day to make sure everything was okay. Would use Sykes again.
"Based on the on-line reviews we weren't sure what to expect."
In the end we found a lovely cottage very conveniently located in the town, with a car parking space. It had great views over the river, park and mountains behind. The cottage had everything we could have wanted; it was warm, had all the mod cons and very comfortable. If you want a cottage in a quiet wee hamlet then this isn't the cottage for you. If you want one in a buzzing lakeland town with everything right on your doorstop, then it is. Thanks for a great break!
"The proximity to town is a big plus when the weather is a bit iffy."
We loved the large open plan lounge/kitchen upstairs. Also we must praise Sykes for the information made available before and during the time we were there. Will certainly use you guys again next time we are in the Lakes
"We enjoyed being in such a central location, as it's the off-season."
The weather was better than the forecast, consistently, which is good. The house was ideally equipped for our stay. Sykes responded instantly in acknowledging minor issues on outstanding maintenance, and ideally the owner will use the off-season to get them fixed, could be done in an hour.
"Our expectations were met."
"My husband and I had the misfortune to book Wrenville at Keswick on the 9th June 2018."
This is the filthiest house we have ever had, it had to be seen to believed I have never been so disgusted in my life. Many many photos were taken of all the muck and mess that was in in the house,. This was supposed to be a high end property at £675 per week, nothing was high end ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I complained to Sykes Cottages and sent all the photos which they agreed was dreadful. The owner would not respond when Sykes tried to contact him, not surprising he’s got his money he doesn’t care. Sykes them selves have been extremely helpful and have resolved this to my satisfaction. It won’t stop my using Sykes as we’ve had many cottages booked through them, just hope they consider not working with this owner and letting him pull down the good reputation Sykes have.
"This property could be really very good, but is let down by a few problems, which should be an easy fix."
Firstly, the property was not as clean as we would have expected. The kitchen was very grubby, and needs a thorough deep clean. It could do with some of the cupboards repairing too. The windows in the property were filthy too, spoiling the views it brags about having. Some of the window blinds didn't work properly, especially the main bedroom one, which could not be closed, and it let a lot of light in. But the main problem with this property is the noise. We appreciate it is on a main road, but the windows are inadequate. They need to be at least double glazed, to help with the noise. Even passing pedestrians sounded like they were in the room. Someone previously suggested using ear plugs, which we did, but they are not a perfect solution, and are not something we found comfortable in using. A real shame, because otherwise the location for Keswick and surrounding area is perfect.
"Hade everything we could have wanted comfort relaxing and wonderful views close to amenities"
"The cottage was a perfect size, however the cleanliness was not as one would expect, coffee / tea stains on the bed side cabinets, cooker / toaster needed cleaning out and the bathroom could have had a more deeper clean."
Outdoor area at the back is not really ideal to sit out in Wifi was advertised however there was none, the engineer came to install midway through our holiday, however it was still not working when we left, so very disappointed with that
"Unfortunately the maintenance of the property was below expectations."
The property commanded top price as it looks to be of a very high standard, and I was happy to pay the extra as it looked so lovely. Lots of things were broken, including the main cooker, dvd player, fire, and no hot water to the lovely deep bath. The edging under the cupboards in the kitchen had fallen off and was just lying in the kitchen area, 2 window blinds were broken, a towel rail in the kitchen was broken and one of the large kitchen floor cupboards would not stay shut. The dust bins outside were full to overflowing. I did go to the office mid week with a list of problems, and staff were very polite to me, I was expecting to be contacted so that a maintenance person could at least come and see the problems but I wasn't. However I again spoke to the office personnel when I gave back the key, and they did go out to the property straight away. When I got home I did have an email acknowledging my concerns and giving me a named person who was dealing with the issues. The area is amazing, despite the inclement weather we had a lovely visit. We come to the lakes every year as we love it so much, usually staying in much cheaper properties, but as it is my 60th birthday I thought I would go for something more luxurious, so I was rather disappointed, and would not stay in Wrenville again.
