“Let's start with the positives - this is a fantastic location, truly outstanding, nice kitchen units/area, freezer in addition to the fridge, a very nice place to stay.”
Plus red squirrels frequent the patio area.
However, more feedback needs to be given to the owners from either the guests or via the people to clean regarding problems/deficiencies, they spoil the experience in an otherwise fantastic location. I would not go back, or recommend it to a friend without cavaets because of the problems - which could easily be remedied
The property is advertised as sleeping 4 - only three wine glasses were provided - I phoned our 'contact point' requesting more but heard nothing back so I phoned Becks at Sykes and she arranged for three more to be delivered - that was good but Sykes should not have to be involved when there are people 'on the ground' who can more easily remedy a problem/issue. Also no bottle opener, or corkscrew, or serving spoon..... easily remedied, or just write in the description "Must bring own Bottle opener, corkscrew and any glasses you may require"
The tap in the kitchen leaked all over the units around the sink literally whenever it was turned on - I'm sure the problem could be simply remedied with a spanner and a washer but it's not good enough just to ignore it. Even if the guests did not specify the problem in feedback the cleaners would know of the problem. We wrapped tea-towels around the base of the tap and wrung them out when they got too saturated. Maybe the description should include "We will provide towels for the leaking kitchen tap in addition to other towels and linen"
The toilet seat in one of the en-suite bathrooms was not properly attached - one of our party who was a little bit less mobile found that the toilet seat would detach itself during visits - not great in the middle of the night.
The ceiling roller blind in the second bedroom was broken, the cord just wrapped around the nearest beam - not essential, but when you are paying close to £1000 for a three night stay, I'd expect more.
An unimportant point on its own, but illustrative of the lack of attention to detail in generating an overall favourable impression was outside - on the patio area were a couple of plastic bird feeders and a bird table - nice if you want to watch the local bird population feeding - however these were broken beyond care or repair - it gave a poor impression. Don't have them if they're going to look a mess, take them away or fix them, otherwise it looks like the owner is not concerned about detail or the guests impressions.
