“Bowscale View is literally in the middle of nowhere and does not have wi-fi.”

So what, "de-screening" for seven days is no big deal. The house is suitable for 2 couples having 2 bedrooms with double beds and en suite shower/bath/toilet. As my wife and I like to sleep in separate beds we each made use of a bedroom. The house offers all the amenities you need although the "kitchen area" is a little cramped but since there were only 2 of us that was not a major issue. ...

The sitting area looks out onto a terrace and hills in the background and is visited on a daily basis by the resident pheasant and squirrel. The nearby road sees so little traffic, especially after dark, and as a consequence it is blissfully quiet. The area is ideal for walking and cycling and places like Penrith, Keswick and Carlisle are within a short distance.

About the location

TROUTBECK

Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
