“Definitely recommend!”
!! -
So me and my girlfriend booked a holiday to another place - unfortunately it got cancelled 4 days before we were due to go due to covid. We quickly had a look around whilst on the phone to Sykes who were great and very understanding, we happened to find Hayloft, I don’t know how because it should have been swept up long before then! So we booked it not really knowing what to expect, we arrived on a Friday evening, it’s down some lanes but very drivable (we only went in a small car) it’s located in a very small village (there isn’t anything in Mosedale, everything is a drive away even a shop) however it was so beautiful, surrounded by hills filled with sheep and nature it was lovely. We went up to the hayloft to find a very clean (which was great because of the covid situation), the kitchen is filled with everything you could possible need, lots of cups, plates and utensils!! We couldn’t believe how equipped it was. There was fresh soap and toilet roll and clean bedding and towel, it was perfect. That evening we realised we forgot sugar so we planned to find a village shop in the morning, we went on a walk and didn’t find anything so walked around the fields, we came across a lovely lady and her dog and asked if she knew where the nearest shop was she was very helpful and friendly (she even offered to give us some sugar herself!) we walked back to the house and planned on driving to the nearest farm shop to get some sugar, when I see the owner of Mosedale house outside hayloft door (around 20 minutes after we had spoke to the lady on our walk) she has brought us a tub of her own sugar!! The lady on the walk rang her and informed her of our situation! We could not believe the kindness of the both and it was just the start of our holiday. We both had a lovely, peaceful break before we got back to the madness of work and we couldn’t have picked a better place!! Plenty to see in the surrounding towns, and plenty of lovely walks. We would definitely recommend staying here, but of course bring your raincoat and boots. It’s a great place for walks. There’s also a farm down one of the lanes that sells fresh hen and duck eggs!
The place was perfect except for one thing... spiders which cannot be helped but for two people who don’t like them it was a little tough to begin with but towards the end of the week we got used to them being there, however if you have a severe fear of spiders I wouldn’t recommend here or any little house in the country as we had around 6 big ones in our room that we couldn’t reach but apart from that it is unbeatable there. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anybody!
The people looking after Mosedale house were so friendly and welcoming to us and even with our not so little house guests we would definitely give 5 out of 5 stars!
