  • "Had a fantastic holiday in this lovely cottage - it was pretty, cosy & comfortable and we had everything we could possibly need!"

Spotlessly clean too & the owners were friendly & helpful though not at all intrusive. The hot tub was an added bonus after a long day out and it was handy to have the laundry facilities too. The cottage location is great for exploring the Lakes and very quiet with lovely gentle views even though not far from the main road. We hope to come again!

  • "We had a brilliant week in the lakes with our son and family."

The cottage was clean and comfortable and the owners on site very helpful. The hot tub was great after a long day in the lakes and our son had no problem charging his electric car when necessary. Thank you for a great holiday. One small point. It was a bit tricky sometimes with six of us in the cottage and only one bathroom/ toilet.

  • "This is an excellent property for a trip to the Lake District."

The owners made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and gave us some useful advice on nearby walks and places to visit. The Cottage was spotless and had everything you could need during your stay including a welcome package that included milk biscuits and a bottle of Prosecco. The hot tub was that little extra treat that we needed for our aching bones after a day out walking. If you are going to the Lake District and are looking for a place to stay then I would definitely recommend Daisy Cottage.

  • "I have used many self-catering properties over the years, and this is one of the best I have ever stayed in."

Wonderfully well equipped, including many little "extras" provided, completely peaceful despite the proximity to the A66, any noise from this being inaudible inside the house. Roger and Val were very welcoming and friendly hosts, directions to the house were absolutely spot-on, and the whole experience was a delight. Many thanks!

It is nicely done out and there were some lovely little extras that Val and Roger put in place too. We even had a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge along with the milk! The place was spotless and was a perfect location for us. Val and Roger are lovely and very friendly but not intrusive. We will be back.

  • "Thanks so much to Val, Roger and their daughter (who checks the hot tub twice a day) for a warm welcome and lovely stay at Daisy Cottage."

There was everything we could have hoped for and more - even home baking equipment, a Lake District Monopoly game and dressing gowns for using to go to he hot tub, which is such a luxury and we found best enjoyed in the rain under the fairy lights at sunset. There is so much to do in striking distance of the cottage, indoor and out, and such great views of the fells.

  • "The property is a well maintained, clean and very comfortable in every aspect - from the living room furnishings to the beds."

We could not fault the cottage in anyway. Our 3 and 6 year old girls loved the surrounds, seeing sheep all day and the little extras like the picnic benches are an added bonus where the girls loved having breakfast and lunch outside. The surrounding make the cottage and farm standout even more and in a quiet area away from the main town. Hot tub is extremely well maintained and even though we didn’t get as much time to use it as we’d liked, it’s the cherry on the cake! We will sure be back next year and both Roger and Val are very accommodating and lovely hosts - you will not be disappointed!

About the location

PENRUDDOCK

Keswick 11 miles; Penrith 6 miles.

The charming old village of Penruddock sits in a secluded position in the northern Lake District between Keswick and Penrith, and just four miles from Ullswater. The village is spread out amongst beautiful rolling countryside and wonderful scenery and is made up of a number of farm dwellings, traditional Lakeland homes and two churches. Penruddock originated in Celtic times, with the name derived from Pen, a Celtic name for 'hill' and 'rhuddawc' meaning red in Welsh to reflect the reddish brown colour of the soil found in the area. Nearby, the popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the north of the Lake District and has plenty to offer, boasting numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, some good parks, the Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema and the beautiful lake. Penruddock provides easy access to the spectacular surrounding Cumbrian countryside which can be explored by both car and on foot, and with the southern Lakes, Eden Valley, Solway Coast and Hadrian's Wall all within easy motoring distance this great location has plenty to see and do for all the family.
