  • “The lodge was much more spacious than we are used to and really felt more like a house than a caravan.”

It was a real advantage to have such a large and encloses garden area too. The plot is about 1 min walk from the beach which was great too. The area around Southerness is lovely and attractions around Dumphries are worth checking out. The Park Dean resort that this lodge is based is not great and there are some scruffy plots that house old and rusted up caravans. It is perhaps not the best place if you are after lots of resort facilities. Nonetheless, the lodge itself is far better than you ...

The Park Dean resort that this lodge is based is not great and there are some scruffy plots that house old and rusted up caravans. It is perhaps not the best place if you are after lots of resort facilities. Nonetheless, the lodge itself is far better than you will find listed on commercial resorts. The facilities in the lodge are amazing and make the stay really comfortable and enjoyable. If you stay here expect to see lots of wild rabbits who like to come and chill in the garden!

The property

Cheri is a wonderful, twin lodge based on the well-appointed Southerness Holiday Park in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.

The park offers everything that you could need for a coastal break, alternatively you are well-placed for touring this adventure-filled region - either ensures an unforgettable break on the 'Scottish Riviera'.

The property benefits from stylish open-plan living, a homely room dressed in calming, neutral colours to make your stay even more relaxing.

You can lounge on the cosy sofas with your favourite films on the TV and the pretty gas fire to keep you warm.

The living area concludes with a contemporary and well-equipped kitchen and dining area, perfectly social areas for the whole family to enjoy together.

Both bedrooms here at Cheri are similarly decorated in a heart-warming, hotel-like standard, with the master bedroom boasting a classy en-suite shower room.

An up-to-date family bathroom concludes the interior of this delightful lodge.

Take a seat on the private decking and embrace the refreshing sea breeze with a soothing drink or perhaps a delicious alfresco meal.

Southerness Holiday Park is a fine choice for your Southern Scotland break, offering an indoor swimming pool, an amusement arcade, a pool table, a choice of play areas, a bar/restaurants and a fascinating nature trail, endless fun to keep everybody occupied.

Nearby you can visit the village's 18th century lighthouse and its stretch of fabulous beaches.

About the location

SOUTHERNESS

Castle Douglas 19 miles; Dalbeattie 13 miles; Dumfries 16 miles.

Southerness is a small coastal village established in the late 18th century, which looks out over the Solway Firth, and forms part of the Colvend coast, one of the finest stretches of coastline on the 'Scottish Riviera'. Home to two pubs, a village store, a leisure centre with a pool and two miles of sandy beaches with sand dunes, rock pools and Gulf Stream warmed waters, and one of the oldest lighthouses in Scotland, built in 1748, it has everything you will need for a relaxing holiday. The nearby Criffel Hill rises to 569m, offers wonderful views of the farmland and the sands of the Nith Estuary below, and provides great walking opportunities. The Southerness Championship Golf Course adjoins the village and offers panoramic views of the Solway Firth, the Cumbrian Lake District to the south and the Galloway Hills to the west. A great location, with something to keep everybody occupied.
