The property

Peacefully tucked away in the unspoilt Northern Fells area of the UNESCO listed Lake District National Park, and in one of the most sought-after villages in the region, Ostlers Barn is a lovely retreat for two couples or a family of four looking to add a dash of luxury to their holiday to the Lakes.

Located on the edge of Hesket Newmarket, this barn conversion is a stunning two bedroomed cottage, perfectly located to explore this quiet and attractive part of the Lake District away from the crowds.

Be welcomed into the spacious high-spec modern kitchen, which has been fully refurbished using the latest appliances including underfloor heating, 3 oven electric Aga, ceramic induction hob, multi-function oven & microwave and American-style fridge freezer, digital radio/Bluetooth speaker and a Smart TV, all designed around a natural oak and granite peninsula; you will feel immediately at home with everything you need at your fingertips should you decide to dine in.

Leading directly off the kitchen is the spacious living/dining area, with an oak dining table big enough to seat you and your visitors, and an inviting seating and entertainment space.

Many of the original features of the barn have been retained, such as the wooden lintels and exposed stonework, which complement the contemporary furnishings wonderfully.

The two cushioned sofas and huge footstool face the traditional style electric stove and the Smart TV, which incorporates the latest applications such as Netflix, Prime and DVD player along with access to an Xbox.

The bookcase is stocked with a range of local guidebooks and maps for planning your activities, a multitude of coffee table books and novels.

Climb the stairs to find two welcoming, well-appointed and spacious super king-size bedrooms; the master bedroom can be a twin on request, with a super king-size bed and an additional double sofa bed, incorporating a beautiful en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower and a heated tiled floor.

The bedroom itself, with its vaulted ceiling, Velux windows, exposed roof trusses and plush deep pile carpet provides the ultimate relaxing space in which to unwind.

The second superking-size room with its beautiful rustic wooden framed bed, is served by a separate, contemporary family bathroom with under floor heating and a powerful shower over a good-sized bath.

The cottage is located at the edge of the village, which in turn is nestled within the beautifully wooded Northern Fells, with access to some lovely walks, proper pubs and secluded lakes and tarns.

The local cooperatively owned village pub, The Old Crown, serves its own range of beers brewed on site and delicious home cooked bar meals; do book ahead, as the tables fill up quickly.

For those wishing to travel further afield to eat or drink there is no shortage of great places to visit.

The nearest lake is Bassenthwaite, a short drive away, where you will find lovely lake and riverside walking, a luxurious spa, Lake District Wildlife Park, and Cumbria’s only distillery - all of which are well worth a visit.

The cottage is also within easy reach of the rest of the Lake District, and access to everything the outdoor enthusiast might want to do.

Keswick, the nearest local town has a wide range of amenities, and lies adjacent to Derwentwater where you can swim, canoe, paddle board or sail, and also close to the famous Wainwright fell, Cat Bells.

You may also wish to visit Keswick Adventure Centre, Theatre by the Lake or one of the huge range of pubs, shops and restaurants in the town.

Whisk your loved ones away for an adventure they won’t forget at Ostlers Barn.
