The property

If you're looking for comfortable and modern accommodation in the Lake District with spectacular views, then The Bothy at Thornthwaite Hall will tick all your boxes.

A first-floor apartment with views towards Skiddaw and Ullock Pike and the fells overlooking Derwentwater.

The Bothy is located at Thornthwaite Hall, formally an 18th century farmhouse, in the picturesque village of Thornthwaite.

Being just over five minutes drive from bustling Keswick it's the perfect family getaway in the Lakes at any time of year.

The cosy living/dining room has a feature gas fire and TV/DVD .

The kitchen is well equipped and there's a smart modern bathroom with bathtub and overhead shower, wash basin and WC.

The Bothy sleeps four in two bedrooms, one double and a twin bedroom.

In both bedrooms you'll wake up to astonishing views over the fells.

There are seating areas in the shared garden.

It is the access to the fell side tracks, Whinlatter Forest, and the countryside beyond that will be the real attraction. The vibrant town of Keswick with its restaurants, bars and family attractions is a buzzing place to have on the doorstep and is a short drive from Thornthwaite Hall.

Within a mile, along a forest track or by road is Braithwaite with its traditional country pubs, village shop and tearoom.

A short walk to the north is the beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake with its fantastic views, and superb bird watching opportunities, including a bird watching ‘hide’ where at certain times of year you might even see Ospreys feeding!

Many classic Lakeland walks can be started from The Bothy and keen mountain bikers will love the purpose built trails through the nearby Whinlatter Forest.

Further afield you can access all the delights that Britain's favourite National Park has to offer.

Romantic Ullswater, Lake Windermere, Ambleside, all the many charming Lakeland villages and even historic Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall are easily accessible from The Bothy but with the superb walking and cycling on the doorstep, you'll be happy to stay within the environs of Thornthwaite.

Whatever the time of year, The Bothy is an ideal getaway in this glorious part of the world and the perfect base for exploring all the delights of the Lake District

Keswick 3.5 miles; Braithwaite 1 mile; Bassenthwaite Lake 1 mile

Sitting at the foot of the Whinlatter and Thornthwaite Forest and between the magnificent northern lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, is the village of Thornthwaite. Thornthwaite boasts a contemporary art gallery exhibiting many local artists and its teashop and the Church of Thornthwaite St.Mary with its origins dating back to 1240 The beautiful Comb Beck runs alongside the village into the nearby lake. Thornthwaite affords fantastic views towards Skiddaw and access to both leisurely strolls and challenging fell walks from the doorstep. The beautiful Newlands Valley is close by and is great to walk or cycle, especially if you like to stumble across pubs and tea shops and its ‘buggy friendly’! The whole of the National Park is accessible from Thornthwaite but close by are Keswick, Braithwaite and attractions like Derwentwater for its sailing and kayaking, The Whinlatter Visitors Centre with its ‘Go Ape’, mountain biking and children’s play area, Mire house, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the lake and Armathwaite Hall for luxury afternoon teas.
