The property

Resting within striking distance of the River Annan and a short car journey away from the bustling town of Annan is this stone-built property, Waterside Lodge.

This superb accommodation is perfect for two couples or a small family seeking to explore the majestic setting of Dumfries and Galloway, carved by its rocky shoreline, sandy beaches and acres of woodland.

The interior boasts bags of character and tradition with a clever blend contemporary furnishings and quality fixtures to ensure a memorable base to return to year after year.

Head into the sitting room where the plush seating arrangement is centred by a roaring open fire.

In here you can look forward to unwinding after an action packed afternoon, sinking into the plush sofa and tune into the TV, whilst the warmth of the fire offers comfort during a winter’s evening.

Beyond here is the well-equipped kitchen which houses everything you could possibly need before heading back into the sitting room where you will find a quaint dining area, where you and your loved ones can gather to plan the day's ahead.

As the evening draws to a close, retire to one of the well-presented bedrooms each boasting an elegant styling, quality linens and ample storage and space to house your personal belongings.

The interior is completed by the superb family bathroom with shower over bath, basin and WC.

Nearby is the village of Dalton with a local pub, gin distillery and restaurant.

For all other amenities venture to the nearby town of Annan or Lockerbie where you will find a pub and a shop for picking up the essentials.

To keep you busy whilst staying here, brush up on the local history by spending time at the Caerlaverock Castle or sample heart-warming Scotch whisky.

Alternatively, head to the coast where you will be delighted to find a magnitude of unspoilt beaches and excellent walking and cycling opportunities.

Waterside Lodge is an outstanding base for exploring this part of Scotland with your loved ones.

About the location

LOCKERBIE

Dumfries 12 miles; Gretna 16 miles.

The town of Lockerbie is set in the lowlands of Scotland, in the Dumfries and Galloway region. Lockerbie has a range of amenities including pubs, restaurants, a bakery and a pottery. There are also facilities for curling and ice skating, with golf, cycling, walking and birdwatching all on offer in the surrounding area. The region has a wealth of history, and sites like Caerlaverock Castle, Drumlanrig Castle and Glenluce Abbey attest to that. Less energetic pursuits include visits to the many museums and galleries as well as Scotland's official Book Town of Wigtown. Added to this is the proximity of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Carlisle and this location truly offers something for everyone.
