    “The cottage was wonderful.”

    We have had numerous holidays with Sykes and mostly the cottages are very good but this was the best cottage we have booked. The owners were very friendly and helpful. ( they even decorated the cottage with Christmas decorations.) What more could you ask.

Burgh by Sands rests in the City of Carlisle within the district of Cumbria. Laying close to the Solway Firth, this parish includes the villages of Longburgh, Dykesfield, Boustead Hill, Moorhouse and Thurstonfield. Burgh by Sands is home to a primary school, a pub and a post office. The coast from Burgh-by-Sands to Ravenglass is designated part of the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site which passes through the village. Steeped in history, this charming location also hosts St Michaels Church and The Western Tower, thought to be of the 14th century. The neighbouring village of Boustead Hill, will take you past farms and charming houses whilst Thurstonfield holds an attractive small lake.
