“The cottage was as described and had everything we needed.”

Well presented, clean cottage. Would have been nice to have a washing machine.

Well presented, clean cottage. Would have been nice to have a washing machine. We have stayed at the hotel on whitbarrow before so knew what facilities were available on site. However due to Covid 19 the swimming pool and Gym were only available once per stay, which was disappointing as the facilities were also a reason for us booking our stay at whitbarrow.

“The holiday, site etc were excellent.”

However, we were slightly disappointed having requested at time of booking online a high chair and travel cot for our 12month grandson to be told that the cottage we had booked could not offer this facility. Four adults and baby in car with luggage for week plus travel cot came from Dundee. (We had planned to ask if we could hire a high chair on arrival, as we had no room to take this too) It was a long and not the most comfortable of journeys there and back. However on arrival, when I asked to hire a high chair at reception. I was informed that the cottage had both a travel cot and high chair in situ. This was slightly infuriating o say the least and to be honest given the specification of Whitbarrow, I would have expected this accommodation at the outset and not to be told it wasn't available. Thank you for our recent feedback regards your stay; there is a highchair and a travel cot located in the hall cupboard of the property. “The house was very nice located in a beautiful part of the lakes this was our first holiday with Sykes and to the lakes it certainly won’t be the last The propert itself was good although could do with some cosmetic care floors squeaky, sofa dated worn arms, as is the gas hob.”

Fantastic wild life kept us entertained especially my 3yr old granddaughter

“Sunny Cumbria”

A delightful find. Excellent accommodation in a lovely country setting. Plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Good leisure facilities after a warm day especially the jacuzzi all included in the rental price. Only downside no shop on sight.

“Nice looking, but some of the quality not great”

The layout and size of the accommodation was lovely. We were staying during a very cold snowy week and the place felt warm and comfy all the time. One issue was the very creaky floor and stair. There was hardly anywhere to stand that didn't creak, which in a new build isn't good. Also the doors didn't stay shut. Our 2 year old was able to get into everywhere because none of the door catches worked.

“So very peaceful”

All was fine with our stay apart from the fact that we were told we would need to hire a cot and high chair and pick them up from Penrith on our way! On being told that we decided to take our own only to find when we arrived that there was a high chair already in the kitchen and a foldaway cot in the cupboard down the stairs. Same applied to our holiday neighbours. Not exactly good communication and when you are travelling with so many other things that a toddler needs, could have done well without taking these items on the trip. The holiday village was excellent. About a mile off the main road and we did find our stay so very peaceful apart from the ducks who came to our door each morning to be fed. Our granddaughter loved that! We did not use the facilities as we had to baby sit in the evenings but from what we saw ie the pool, the play area etc were first class.

The property

Whitbarrow Holiday Village is located just minutes from Ullswater, and the modern cottages have full use of the leisure club with pool, gym and sauna and the on-site restaurant and bar.

With delightful upside down accommodation to make the most of the views to the lake, Number 24 offers bright and airy living space and is ideal for family and friends holidaying in the Lake District whatever the time of year. The three bedrooms are all located on the ground floor and the master double bedroom has an en-suite shower room with WC.

The twin and bunk bedroom share a family bathroom with shower attachment over bath, hand basin and WC.

Upstairs there's a lounge with comfortable seating plus a TV and DVD player and hi-fi.

There's also an additional sofa bed.

The fully equipped dining kitchen is the ideal place to create some delicious meals using the fresh produce Cumbria is famed for. Of course, if you don't want to cook, the on-site restaurant is the ideal place for a meal and it's just part of the comprehensive facilities available for you to use free of charge at Whitbarrow Holiday Village.

There's plenty of outdoor space to explore including giant chess, crazy golf and an adventure playground and there's a private parking space for one car at the cottage and additional parking in the car park. Whitbarrow is one of the most popular holiday villages in the Lake District, providing activities for all ages.

Apart from the facilities at the outstanding leisure centre with its pools, Jacuzzi and table tennis, there's a holistic therapy centre for the full pampering experience.

Tourist information, DVD rental and internet are available in the reception area and there's a separate laundry room.

Lake Ullswater and Wordsworth Country are just a short drive away, as is lively Penrith with its range of shopping, bars and restaurants.

Take a scenic drive across the Kirkstone Pass and you can be in Windermere in half an hour.

Enjoy family attractions like the Aquarium of the Lakes and Go Ape, or take a leisurely cruise on one of the famous Lakeland steamers. About the location

GREYSTOKE

Penrith 5 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

This charming village has a number of 17th Century cottages and is conveniently situated just 5 miles from Penrith. Set just on the outskirts of the Lake District National Park, only 5 miles from Ullswater and the numerous picturesque walks available make this a fabulous location for fans of the outdoors. Nearby, the popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the north of the Lake District and has plenty to offer, boasting numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering the Theatre on the Lake, a charming cinema, museum, indoor climbing wall and miniature golf. The area also steeped in history with a 10th century church in the village, lovely castle in Penrith and the stunning remains of Lowther Castle. Greystoke provides easy access to the spectacular Cumbrian countryside which can be explored by both car and on foot, and the southern Lakes, Eden Valley, Pennines Solway Coast and Hadrian's Wall all within close proximity, making this a great location with plenty to see and do.
