“The house was dirty. The oven trays ...”

The house was dirty. The oven trays and shelf really dirty. Dirty dishes crockery and utensils. The en suite shower was dirty with hairs from previous guests. The bathroom had hairs in the bath. The decked area wasn't looked after. I spoke with the owner she said I have a great housekeeper after what I had to clean that is very poor housekeeping. The owner should take more care of the property. I would like a manager to call me to discuss these issues further. I will be sending photos

The property

This stunning upside-down cottage is located in the heart of the Lake District, on a beautiful holiday park close to Ullswater and the village of Troutbeck. This is a modern cottage, featuring beautiful high ceilings and beams in the lounge, with a balcony that’s perfect for breakfasting while taking in the amazing countryside.

The property also has a quirky feel due to its upside-down layout, with the lounge and kitchen on the first floor and the bedrooms downstairs.

The cottage is perfect for a busy family holiday with walks and views aplenty on the doorstep and lots to see and do at the holiday park. Inside the cottage, you’ll find a bright and cheerful open plan lounge and dining room, with comfortable seating and a television that’s perfect for lounging around if the weather’s bad or you just feel like taking a couple of hours to relax.

You can also step out onto a small decked terrace from here and enjoy views across the holiday park and the countryside.

The pleasant and homely kitchen/dining area is wood floored, with plenty of storage space, and all standard appliances – oven, hob, fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher, and the dining table easily seats 6.

Moving downstairs to the bedrooms, there’s more than enough room for your family, with a master double bedroom for you, that has its own en-suite shower room, and a WC with a hand basin.

And for the kids, they can enjoy sleeping in bunk beds or share a twin room, and the full family bathroom, with a shower over the bath, WC and hand basin will be perfect for them, while you enjoy your private space in your room. Outside, the small lawn is neatly trimmed and well presented, and you can enjoy your own space with the balcony and terrace. You have all the attractions of the holiday park and a pub within walking distance, with its giant chess board, games room, crazy golf, indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, putting green, gym, and when you need to relax and eat, they also have a bar and restaurant. With the whole of the Lake District National Park on your doorstep, you’ll never be short of things to do, with market towns, villages, local shops and pubs, the gorgeous lakes and the countryside to explore.

You could take a trip on the Ullswater steamers, get adventurous with Distant Horizons and their kayaking, canoeing and water sports, or explore Lowther Castle and Gardens in Penrith. Perfectly placed to explore the Lake District and burn off some energy with the holiday park attractions and the hikes and sports available, this really is an ideal spot for a family holiday you won’t forget.
