  • "Lovely apartment but parking was very limited."

A note was left on our windscreen telling us not to park where we were. There were no double yellow lines or no parking signs. I think the person was disgruntled because they couldn’t park. Excellent bus services to many local towns. Couple of good supermarkets very close by.

Thank you for your feed back . So glad you liked the apartment. Hope the car parking issue didn't affect your stay. This is the first time we've had any complaints regarding parking. Hope you come back soon. Kind Regards Kenneth Winstanley Property Owner

  • "Located in a nice market town with plenty of shops and street parking nearby."

The property itself was very well stocked and everything seemed new. The owner was kind enough to provide basic cleaning and cooking necessities which were much appreciated! Also had a few great nights of sleep and dabbled in Ken’s DVD collection. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Thank you for the lovely review. So glad you enjoyed the apartment and that you enjoyed my music and dvd collection. Wigton is a lovely Cumbrian market town perfectly placed for exploring by car or train or bus. Hope to see you again. Kind Regards. Ken Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely weekend stay at this stunning apartment, so beautifully furnished and very comfortable."

The bedroom was like a stylish hotel room with a plush bed. Loved the little touches like a jewellery box and a little torch by the bed. Wish we could have stayed longer! We went to Carlisle for the day, which was only a 20 minute drive, where we visited the castle and cathedral. Also went to Siloth beach, again only a 20 minute drive. Would definitely recommend this great apartment.

Thank you for your kind review. So glad you loved the apartment and all the little touches. Wigton is a great base for visiting other parts of Cumbria. Hope to see you again soon. Kind Regards Ken Property Owner

  • "A unique apartment makes for a real change."

I really enjoyed the apartment experience for my Cumbria break, with superb local shops a few steps away (/especially Richardson’s butchers and the bakery on the corner) as well as Co-op, Spar and Lidl within walking distance. The railway station is five minutes brisk walk away, and I caught the train the Carlisle twice, a splendid city. Would have taken the costal route to Ravenglass if I’d had time. Great to approach Keswick by car and onwards to the Lakes. Parked in the same road on all but one occasion - Water Street is very close and costs £4.60 for 24 hours. Luxurious furnishings added to the ambience. When I asked if there was an airer, Ken arranged delivery of a brand new one within 24 hours - you can’t get better than that! A refreshing stay, thank you.

Thank you for your kind review. So glad you enjoyed your visit to Wigton and the surrounding area. Hope to see you again. Kind Regards. Ken Property Owner

The Retreat is a wonderful spacious apartment. Very stylish and beautifully furnished tastefully decorated. It has a large and very, very comfy bed. Fully equipped kitchen. A real home from home. Shops and pubs on the doorstep. The host Ken was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend the Retreat. Hope to return in the near future Linda & Danny x

  • "A beautifully elegant building and an apartment which has been stylishly renovated and fulfills every wish!"

Extremely comfortable with a great bed and big squishy sofas to relax on, a perfectly equipped kitchen and chic bathroom. The owners were great when we had a little problem and sorted it quickly - thank you for that. We loved our stay here in the centre of Wigton, the proximity to all the shops, great butchers and lovely grocery stores. Wigton is the perfect spot to explore Carlisle, the lowlands of Scotland and the Lake District. The local buses run on time and take you wherever you want, the rail station is a stone throw's away. We will definitely be coming back again soon for our next holiday.

Thank you for your feed back Sarah. So glad you enjoyed your stay in the apartment and your visit to Wigton. We look forward to your next visit. Kind Regards Property Owner

  • "An elegant, stylish and spacious one bedroom flat that I'm glad I stayed in for my five day trip to beautiful Cumbria."

The shower was on a good setting and the washing machine was easy to use, with instructions provided. The double bed was firm and comfy and I slept well and peacefully. Cumbria is beautiful and I indulged in one of my fave pastimes of scenic bus rides around the English countryside. Stopping off here and there and taking a boat trip around Lake Derwent at Keswick. The flat is close to bus stops, the train station from whence I arrived from London, grocery provisions and takeways and pubs. There are two things which would have made things a little more comfy: Having more than one toilet roll provided and a more manageable way of reaching the blind adjustment knobs.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed the apartment and your trip to Cumbria. We have noted your comments and will endeavour to respond to the details as soon as possible. Kind Regards Property Owner

About the location

WIGTON

Carlisle 12 miles; Keswick 20 miles.

A traditional Cumbrian market town with a charter granted in 1262, which still holds a market each Friday in the covered market hall, along with an open air car boot sale. Wigton is a popular centre for shopping, pubs and restaurants, and also boasts a theatre, bowls, swimming, tennis and other sports. Lord Melvyn Bragg was a native of Wigton, and used the town (called Thurston in some of his writings) and the surrounding area as the setting for his novels including ‘A Time to Dance’. Located 18 miles from Penrith it is a good base for the attractions of the North Lakes, the cathedral city of Carlisle, 12 miles away, Keswick, just north Derwentwater and close to Lake Bassenthwaite, and the natural beauty of the West Cumbrian Coast. Hadrian’s Wall is within 25 miles, while the Scottish Borders, and Gretna Green, are within easy reach.
