  • "The Old Bothy is a hidden gem!"

Joanne was an amazing host. The cottage was super clean when we arrived and we even had a little home-baked welcome gift. We also ordered some baked goodies to have when we arrived. The accommodation itself was superb. Joanne had emailed us to ask our kids ages, and had put out age appropriate toys for both inside and out. The kids were delighted. And the enclosed garden area gave them freedom in a safe environment. We fed the calves on the farm, and loved having the 3 farm dogs visiting us. The location was great. We visited the northern lake district, as well as Penrith and Carlisle. I highly recommend and will be booking again.

  • "The Old Bothy was absolutely perfect, we came to celebrate my Mums 70th Birthday for the bank holiday weekend, Joanne looked after us and she was so lovely."

The property was on a working dairy farm, so having all the land around was just lovely and peaceful, and of a night no light pollution at all meaning it was ideal for star gazing. The whole place was spotless and of a very high standard. The beds were super comfortable so it was everything we had hoped for and more. We ordered some fresh bread from Joanne which was super delicious and also bought eggs from her too. All in all this was a perfect getaway for the city. Thank you so much for looking after us, the cake & wine was such a lovely surprise for my Mum's birthday too. Would definitely love to stay again.

  • "This was the first time we've used this website and as a result, we were a little worried about what to expect when we arrived."

Firstly, although the location is a little far out, with a 20 mins drive you are in the heart of the lakes. We preferred this in the end because we still had everything on our door step in Wigton, but with out the like minded tourists. The location itself is lovely and Jo and Martin are a lovely family. The cottage was well-equipped for families and all the finer touches were provided. Even a small amount of toys, DVD's and board games for rainy days. Outside is a play area with football nets for the kids etc. Totally safe for the kids and us to walk off around the site. 3 farm dogs on site which my children adored. So much so, we got a dog the day we returned home. Jo and Martin also allowed my young lads to feed the cows on site. For what I paid, it exceeded my expectations massively and I would recommend this location to anyone.

  • "We had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful cottage."

The cottage itself was welcoming, cosy and fitted out with the highest standard of equipment and facilities. Living on the farm was a joyous experience for our children, especially as our hosts were so welcoming. A basket of homemade goodies was an absolute delight. We were able to order further homemade delights and also the opportunity to order an ice cream van straight to the door! Our week was filled with local activities and adventures slightly further afield. There was still so much we wanted to do but ran out of time. We're a family of 4, with 2 children under 3, this place was perfect for us. We will definitely be back!
