"Joanne was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble."
The property had, quite literally, everything you could have wished for.. I will most certainly go again, quite perfect in every way.
Thank you so much! It was a pleasure to meet you all and so pleased you enjoyed your stay in The Old Bothy. Property Owner
"Beautiful cottage, wonderfully clean and so well appointed for families."
We had a lovely stay and the host was exceptional. Will definitely return!
"The Old Bothy is a hidden gem!"
Joanne was an amazing host. The cottage was super clean when we arrived and we even had a little home-baked welcome gift. We also ordered some baked goodies to have when we arrived. The accommodation itself was superb. Joanne had emailed us to ask our kids ages, and had put out age appropriate toys for both inside and out. The kids were delighted. And the enclosed garden area gave them freedom in a safe environment. We fed the calves on the farm, and loved having the 3 farm dogs visiting us. The location was great. We visited the northern lake district, as well as Penrith and Carlisle. I highly recommend and will be booking again.
"The cottage was extremely comfortable and scrupulously clean."
The availability of fresh bread and other homemade goods to purchase was much appreciated.

"Lovely quiet spot but easy to get to North Lakes and beyond."

"Immaculate and well equipped property, very friendly host."
We all loved it.
"The Old Bothy was absolutely perfect, we came to celebrate my Mums 70th Birthday for the bank holiday weekend, Joanne looked after us and she was so lovely."
The property was on a working dairy farm, so having all the land around was just lovely and peaceful, and of a night no light pollution at all meaning it was ideal for star gazing. The whole place was spotless and of a very high standard. The beds were super comfortable so it was everything we had hoped for and more. We ordered some fresh bread from Joanne which was super delicious and also bought eggs from her too. All in all this was a perfect getaway for the city. Thank you so much for looking after us, the cake & wine was such a lovely surprise for my Mum's birthday too. Would definitely love to stay again.
"Excellent cottage very friendly people really enjoyed our holiday."
Scones great welcome and very friendly dogs we will come back
"This was the first time we've used this website and as a result, we were a little worried about what to expect when we arrived."
Firstly, although the location is a little far out, with a 20 mins drive you are in the heart of the lakes. We preferred this in the end because we still had everything on our door step in Wigton, but with out the like minded tourists. The location itself is lovely and Jo and Martin are a lovely family. The cottage was well-equipped for families and all the finer touches were provided. Even a small amount of toys, DVD's and board games for rainy days. Outside is a play area with football nets for the kids etc. Totally safe for the kids and us to walk off around the site. 3 farm dogs on site which my children adored. So much so, we got a dog the day we returned home. Jo and Martin also allowed my young lads to feed the cows on site. For what I paid, it exceeded my expectations massively and I would recommend this location to anyone.
"Very friendly welcome and helpful liaison by phone about picking up key."
John loved the fresh scones, jam and easter eggs! Beautiful Countryside and fabulous weather. Thank you so much.
"A home from home experience."
Very quiet but also convenient for commuting about the lakes. Very friendly hosts.

"Probably the best self-catering accommodation that we have ever stayed at."
Stylish, clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The owner, Joanne was really welcoming and had put homemade scones and jam in the cottage for when we arrived. We really hope to return again.
"It's a really beautiful cottage with a fabulous host."
"We had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful cottage."
The cottage itself was welcoming, cosy and fitted out with the highest standard of equipment and facilities. Living on the farm was a joyous experience for our children, especially as our hosts were so welcoming. A basket of homemade goodies was an absolute delight. We were able to order further homemade delights and also the opportunity to order an ice cream van straight to the door! Our week was filled with local activities and adventures slightly further afield. There was still so much we wanted to do but ran out of time. We're a family of 4, with 2 children under 3, this place was perfect for us. We will definitely be back!
