  • "Lovely property and holiday."

Just one thing:- The plug in the basin didn't work. I am elderly and couldn't have a really good wash, as I can't get into the bath and shower. Beautiful property - there are lots of stairs involved which can be difficult with mobility problems. But I think this is adequately shown in the description.

  • "The apartment is really cosy and yet also spacious, with lots of nice touches like throw blankets and plenty of room for everyone."

We felt that the kitchen was not as well equipped as some cottages we've stayed in, and the shower was a little odd, but we managed fine and enjoyed our stay.

  • "Absolutely beautiful location!"

Fabulous, comfortable place to stay. The beds were perfect and I was delighted to find a feather pillow on the king-size bed as I'd forgotten to bring my own from home. The only negative thing was lack of a second toilet. We stayed as a group of 6 women and had to be very quick in the bathroom! It didn't ruin our stay though. None if us wanted to go home. 2 nights was not long enough. We all said we'd love to go back again.

  • "Airton Mill was in a beautiful location with access to Pennine way on doorstep."

We saw Heron fishing in river from lounge window. Accommodation was spacious & very well equipped. We stayed to enable us to visit Yarndale in nearby Skipton, an excellent show. Although we stayed during fuel shortages, there was plenty to explore nearby, ie Malham Cove.

  • "Lovely apartment in delightful location by the stream and spotlessly clean."

My grandsons loved the well stocked games room which kept them well occupied. We had a really good, comfortable stay. My only disappointment was the stairs down to the mill and then steep stairs up to the apartment which I was unaware of and as I am elderly found difficulty with baggage.

  • "We enjoyed our stay and made very good use of the loft space and pool table; it was great to have this especially with teenagers."

The accommodation is tastefully furnished with comfortable sofas and beds and lovely views from the living room and kitchen. There were a few things that could have been better. The kettle needs replacing or to undergo a full descale. Whilst I understand it's a hard water area and limescale isn't harmful, it wasn't pleasant to have chunks of it floating in hot drinks. We thought we would be ok with one bathroom but we did struggle as a family of four especially as there is no window in that room and the fan is very weak. Windows throughout the property had to be kept closed most of the day due to the amount of flies getting in. Overall though, we did have a lovely stay.

My son loved the upstairs room to play pool and game in downtime. There was a small issue which when reported was dealt with very impressively by the Owner. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

  • "Lovely location and lovely property that was immaculately clean throughout."

Facilities were great but, given the climate up there, I would trade the dishwasher for a tumble drier. Its easier to wash up than it is to dry clothes and it seems a little pointless to have a washing machine without a tumble drier, given that there is no option to dry outside and you can't really use the heaters.

  • "Lovely-clean accommodation ."

love the game room a lot. The only little thing is , the accommodation is on first floor so you get a feeling of staying in apartment rather than a cottage.

  • "Lovely cottage although we did have a problem with midges and it was very hot in the bedrooms at night."

We always book a cottage with a pool table but in this case it wasn’t useable because either a wall or a beam prevented the cue from being used to take a shot. The pool table needs to be moved to a different position.

  • "The cottage was exceptionally clean & was very nicely appointed."

Lovely to see trees & a stream when looking out the lounge & kitchen. Nice to have the upstairs entertainment area with pool table. Airton is a good location for walking & cycling & is close to other nice villages. The only minor complaints are:The shower could have been better plus with a 10am checkout time is limited to have to load the dishwasher AND WAIT FOR THE CYCLE TO COMPLETE to unpack the dishwasher, which was required. Everything is provided except shower/bath soap & shampoo.

About the location

AIRTON

Malham 2.5 miles; Gargrave 4 miles; Skipton 8 miles.

The picturesque Dales village of Airton is situated in beautiful Malhamdale amidst superb open limestone countryside. The village was known as Airtone in the Domesday Book, and was originally a Quaker village. There is still a Quaker meeting house, along with a squatter's cottage on the village green and a Gade 2 listed old mill on the River Aire. Airton boasts a popular farm shop and tea room at Town End Farm, which is renowned for selling excellent local produce. Airton is a great starting point for walkers, with a route along the Pennine Way into Malhamdale, or you may wish to walk from Gargrave to Malham, via Kirkby Malham, where you will find an historic parish church and village inn. More energetic walkers should explore Calton over Calton Moor to Weets Top and Gordale, or eastwards towards Hetton. Nearby Malham is a magnet for visitors to the Dales who come to see Malham Cove, one of Britain's most impressive natural features. The Cove consists of a natural cavern or 'amphitheatre' of limestone rock stretching 75 metres in height and 300 metres around the perimeter. A steep walk up man-made steps is rewarded with a superb view across moors and limestone pavements to Malham Tarn - the Pennines' highest natural lake. Airton is a wonderful central location with Skipton, Settle and Grassington all within easy reach of this Yorkshire Dales village.
