House was lovely. Lots of the paintwork recently done and the whole place finished to a high standard. Well appointed, great location, pretty surroundings, very comfortable. Highly recommended...

  • "Dirty crockery."

TV not connected so patrons need to bring a lap top and connection lead to access their own Sky / Netflix, etc accounts. Bees nest in roof at back of the house so patrons need to be careful leaving windows and doors open. This does need dealing with as some patrons may have a relatable allergy. Comfortable and spacious. Great location.

Thanks for the review and apologies for the rather late response. Since last summer we have updated all the crockery, cutlery and glasses as part of a wider refresh of the cottage. We are also pleased to confirm the Smart TV is now connected and bees nest has been removed. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property great location, marked down only due to dirty glass in cupboard, came clean after put through dishwasher, washer needs a clean, had a little trouble with WiFi password due to misreading of code, maybe printing it will make it clearer if it's a 1 I or l."

Overall didn't detract from holiday as we all had a great time, weather helped glorious sunshine all week.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We will pass your comments on. We hope to welcome you again soon. The owner relations team - Lakelovers Property Owner

  • "The property was finely situated, with excellent views, and had lovely neighbours."

The house was spick-and-span, and adequately spacious for our needs. The paved garden was actually bigger than advertised and can comfortably sit five persons [round the two small tables]. The following has to do with Sykes, or those managing the property: They were most accommodating, and came back with answers to all our queries. However: 1) It took a couple of days for the broken fan in the upstairs WC to be fixed. 2) The answers received when inquiring about the property were not accurate: there were 10 steps to lower bedroom - not five [that can make a big difference for an elderly person]; there were plenty of games for children [so taking our own along was utterly superfluous]; there is a route to Alcock Tarn adjacent to the property! :)

Fully equipped with everything you'd need . Plenty of walking straight from the front door and shops and pubs minutes away, and buses to anywhere further afield just a short stroll away.

  • "Spacious and comfortable and very well equipped."

Well located for access into Grasmere village and with beautiful views from most windows. Our only slight regret was that there was no facility on the TV for i-player or other catch-up services.

i player and Netflix are available on the Smart tv in the lounge. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay."

One fewer guest than we had planned due to their work commitments changing last minute, so for the three of us it was very roomy. Thanks for the last minute availability. Is there anything you could do about the weather? ;-)

Sadly not. You could try again. Usually drier in April, may and June Property Owner

  • "Wonderful cottage close to Grasmere village."

The views are fantastic from the cottage with lots of walks available from the cottage. The property retains a quaint feel to it. Large kitchen with all mod cons and ample space in other rooms. We had a great week there - if we were being very picky suggest the upstairs room ceiling may have small amount of damp from the roof guttering and whilst 3 small cars can be parked easily enough it would be difficult to park 3 larger cars but overall we loved our stay there.

About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
