"Leazes Garth is a lovely cottage in a lovely area with amazing views."
We had a fabulous weeks stay here. There were a few niggles, which I will list but these didn't ruin the holiday for us overall. 1. The garden isn't dog friendly as the fence around the property is an open fence. Perhaps a panelled fence would be better. 2. In the hallway there are some loose tiles that despite previously mentioned in the reviews these still haven't been fixed. 3. The ensuite bathroom could do with a towel rail and more space to store Toiletries etc 4. It would have been useful if a mattress topper had been provided for the bedroom with the zip link beds as this would have made the bed more comfortable. 5. Unfortunately, the cottage was not cleaned to a high standard when we arrived (dirty cotton pad with dirty makeup on was left on the bedside unit in the small double bedroom, the bedding in this room was not clean with hairs all over the duvet) However, despite these comments I would also like to say that the kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need, having the separate boot room is fantastic for hanging up wet coats, removing dirty boots and cleaning the dog, the sofa bed in the lounge was also great for disturbed sleep due to husband snoring loudly

The cottage was well equipped and clean but there was no blind or curtain in the bathroom so we had to hang a towel over the curtain pole so no one could see in. Nice welcome hamper left for us but a pint of milk would have been appreciated even more as we had forgot to buy some on the way but that was our fault. We wouldn’t go back as we found it too far away from the place we like to visit and walk.

Garden fence is neither dog proof nor sheep proof, and is next to a sheep field, so need to accompany dog into garden at all times. No dog extras provided (e.g. dog poo bin, treats, extra towel) and dog has to stay downstairs. When we arrived in the cottage it smelled damp and some of the crockery was not clean, others had been put away wet. Despite previous reviews, loose tiles in hallway still not fixed and were a trip hazard especially with 5yo, we moved doormat to cover them. Says it's baby friendly and has highchair and bedguard but barbed wire fence, pile of loose wire in garden, no plastic plates or bowls, maybe needs more thought. We're used to farm tracks, but this was one of the worst we've been on. Lots of lovely features like the woodburner, L-shaped sofa, and great en-suite shower, but was not our dream destination due to above issues.

Lovely surprise welcome pack, thank you. Liked where there was the entrance to store boots and coats before entering the house. Car advised at all times as long walk to village. Lovely relaxing stay. Recommendations would a a long runner carpet along passage upstairs as floor in certain parts are very shiny and smooth causing a few slipping, two tiles loose on ground floor passage needs fixing. Dogs also must be kept on lead at all times as even a large dog could get through fence. Netting would be a bonus to secure court yard. Thank you for our lovely stay.

It was warm and welcoming with a great welcome pack, and had all the facilities needed for a week away with our dog. The separate entrance /boot/cloakroom and utility was especially useful for cleaning our dog down before entering the main house. We did several walks at High Force, Derwent Water, up to NT Wallington House and NT Allen Banks. Locally we had coffee at Koffee and Kuriosities sampled the beer at Allendale brewery then walked the Allendale sculpture trail along the riverbank to Allendale. There is plenty to see if you like walking and this area is off the beaten track so is not touristy. The property is located in a rural setting near farms and the 100m track to the property does get muddy so a hosepipe to clean the car down would be useful in autumn/winter. Thanks again for a great stay.

There were a couple of niggles, there are no toilet roll holders in any of the three toilets, the second (double) bedroom is too small and has no wardrobe, I would suggest putting bunk beds in this room and the double bed in the twin room.

The cottage location was beautiful and would definatley return. Close enough to the lakes for a day out and also surrounded by plenty of walks. My son especially loved greeting the sheep and cows that were grazing at the side of the road to the cottage and those in the field infront of the property.

Just what we wanted! Lovely to be able to bring our dog too. We didn’t let her run freely in the garden as we didn’t want her to ‘potentially‘ run near the cows, calf’s and sheep. I’m not sure how secure the fencing was to be absolutely sure though. I’d only really say that the lounge had no fire so ended up just staying in the open plan kitchen diner lounge where there was a lovely wood burner and also all of the doors creaked which can wake people up, so just a dab of WD40 on the hinges would sort that out! Thank you for the lovely stay!

The cottage had everything we wanted, the only thing I would say, that would have been better, was if there was a television situated in the open plan living and kitchen area, which was more cosy than the lounge. That said, it was a fantastic holiday.

It is perfectly located with the most stunning views across the Allen Valley. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is quite new to the market and there are a number of things we would recommend to make it even better. A bread board and bread knife would be most useful as would extra wardrobe space in the bedrooms. Also, the wood burner in the lounge does not work very well and does not give out much heat. The only time it worked very well was when there was a gale force wind blowing outside. We are keen cyclists and somewhere to store the bikes would have been very useful too.

Very comfortable and well placed for visiting the nearby area and attractions. Village 2.5 miles away so defend walk but doable. Great pubs with food and an excellent Coop. Highly recommend.

Resting on the outskirts of the pretty village of Allendale, in the southern area of Northumberland, situated at the top of the North Pennines AONB, is this superb detached barn conversion.
Ideally placed in a rural area, surrounded by rolling countryside and enjoying stunning views across the Allen Valley, this is not a place you want to miss out on.
Inside, the barn has been elegantly decorated with a modern and minimalist design, providing quality furnishings and lovely light walls, which give the rooms a warm and welcoming feeling the moment you step inside.

The town of Allendale was once the centre of a busy lead mining area, and many relics of the mining era remain around the area. Allendale is ideally placed for access to Carlisle and Lake District to the west, Hexham, Newcastle and Durham to the east and the Hadrian's Wall just to the north, as well as the Scottish Borders. There are lots of walks, cycling opportunities and unspoilt villages in the surrounding North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is an ideal location for exploring the surrounding countryside or travelling further north to the glorious Heritage Coastline. Allendale is home to the New Year tradition of Tar Bar'ls well worthing seeing or visit in the autumn to visit the Allen Valleys Folk Festival.
