The cottage was beatifully decorated and well equipped for everything we needed. Allendale is also a perfect location for many great days out both on your doorstep and further afield. We squeezed in so much and look forward to coming back again very soon.

  • "We loved the cottage and had a great stay."

Lots of space for outdoor clothes and boots and drying wet walking gear. The kitchen was well equipped and beds very comfortable. Towels and linen were hotel standard. Parking in the Market Square right outside the door was very easy and convenient, we didn’t bother with the off street parking at the back. Allendale had everything we needed, literally on the doorstep. A lovely cottage conveniently located to access a beautiful part of Northumberland.

Excellent food at the Golden Lion in Allendale, the Boatside Inn at Warden and the Angel Hotel in Corbridge. Trips to Durham,Beamish Museum and Newcastle are within an hours drive as well as great access to Hadrians Wall and many local walks. This area is up there with The Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales!!

  • "Since the last stay at this property there have been a few alterations to the furniture."

One of the bedrooms have had the facility to hang your clothes up which is a great addition. Also the well worn furniture in the lounge has been updated with a more modern style which for us more less agile found difficult to get off. On the whole though we had a great stay in this homely cottage and would recommend it.

The cottage was comfortable and provided everything we needed for our weeks stay. The village was small but had everything we needed with a Co op, 2 pubs which both served delicious food and a pizza van on a Tuesday. There was a lovely cafe on the square and a postoffice as well. The cottage was situated in a lovely location not far from Hadrians Wall, Hexham, Corbridge. We even drove to Seahouses on the coast which was only an hours drive away.

I celebrated my 50th birthday there and what a fantastic birthday and week at the cottage and the little village it is situated in. A lovely river walk 5 minutes from the door and takes you to Allendale Brewery and a lovely little cafe. The Golden Lion 2 minutes walk away from the cottage serves beautiful food. Tony the owner visited us when we arrived to check everything was alright for us and if we required anything just to let him know. Thank you so much to the Becks family who own the cottage for our amazing weeks holiday and hope to come back soon.

Given the weather during our stay the log burner was a great benefit. The bed linen and towels were to a 5* hotel level. Highly recommended for a stay if visiting the area It is a great location to visit the area, seem to be a favourite of walkers/hikers The residents of Allendale were very welcoming, The Forge provided a great breakfast,(also the butchers offered tea/coffee, bacon and sausage rolls as well as excellent homemade pork pies and meat) Sunday Lunch at the Kings Head was fantastic and great value for money, the cost of wine and food in the village pubs was a lot cheaper than in the tourist spots such as the town Corbridge which has lovely shops a fantastic cake shop and historical sites, well worth a visit. A Pizza van with wood fired oven visits weekly, fantastic pizza! also a "gourmet" burger van on a Friday

.. good location for exploring the area. Allendale has good shops, tea rooms and 2 pubs doing great food. Cottage itself is well equipped with 2 good bedrooms both ensuite which is ideal for 2 couples. Good kitchen and seating downstairs. the absence of any welcome pack was disapointing and not even a tea bag in the caddy. At minimum some tea and a small bottle of milk would have been nice, especially as the shop may be closed.

Lovely cottage, with everything you could possibly need for your break away from it all. Comfy beds, nice enclosed garden. (Really important for us with two big dogs.) Looking forward to coming back and seeing the communal garden completed. The cottage also has its own garden. Three pubs within a minutes walk, all which do food. A lovely tea room and a little cafe again with a minutes walk. Needless to say we ate out every night, although the kitchen is well equipped. A few photos of walks and the dogs chilling on the garden, and relaxing at the pub. Further afield Hexham Abbey is worth a visit, as is Hadrians Wall.

The garden exceeded our expectations and was larger and very child friendly. Having the adjoining cottage for our own family too was just perfect as we could 'hop over the wall' very easily. The cleaners had done a fantastic job - the place was immaculate and we were allowed to put things in the fridge and leave suitcases whilst we went on my husband's Memorial Walk before the correct 'checking in' time. We found the cottage fabulous for entertaining as Allendale used to be hour home town and of course folks kept dropping by - all very impressed by the quality of the furnishings, décor and were the best equipped self-catering places we have every stayed in (and I used to own a 5 star time share) so I am used to quality but these cottages are 'top notch' and I cannot recommend them too much - we dearly would love to rent them again in the future if it is possible. I feel that anything like the Dale Townhouse and Dale Cottage will be a very hard, if not impossible standard to meet elsewhere and thank you so much for organising them.

The only downside to the garden was that it wasn’t secure enough for our little Patterdale terrier due to the gaps under the gate, but we managed to improvise using a long plank of wood we found! Something to bear in mind if you are taking small dogs. The beautiful bedrooms could have easily afforded King size beds, which would have made it perfect!!! However, these are only minor things that certainly didn’t detract from being in an amazing Cottage, in a fantastic village location with the friendliest locals!! Well worth paying a visit.
