  • "The cottage was furnished to a very high standard and we enjoyed our stay."

Its position sits on a very busy road but the traffic going past didnt bother us. There is no pavement so walking the dog was an issue but we went out every day. The parking for your car is down a steep slope, next to a garage, and getting back out is a trial as you cant see the traffic coming. A road mirror opposite would be a big help. The only small points with the cottage were my wife wished there was a dressing table mirror to sit at when drying her hair. There should also be a roller blind on the landing and bathroom windows as the houses opposite get a good view if you forget yourself. On the positive side, the cottage has loads of plug sockets, some with usb ports. The jacuzzi bath was great fun (the plug is a dial on the side) and the kitchen had everything you could need. The shower was excellent and the beds are very comfortable. The sofas are both electric recliners with usb ports in the side.Fantastic and very comfy. I would speak to Gavin, the owner, who runs the pub next door, about parking in the pub car park, if the slope bothers you. Would recommend Fernleigh Cottage as a good base for the south Lake District. The pub next door does great food and beer and we ate there a couple of times. The staff were lovely and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

  • "Lovely comfortable cottage and perfect location for the South Lakes."

A little update/replacement required; new frying pan ( we didn't use it as it was so badly scratched) wooden spoon for stirring?? Bedroom, kitchen window seals split gives sad impression to the property.

  • "Good size cottage for 4 people but kitchen area small and difficult for more than one person to be in there cooking."

Dining tanke for 4 but only enough room for 2 adults to sit as area too small to get into other 2 chairs. 2 of us sat at breakfast bar instead. Biggest issue for us was out of owners control and was the traffic noise. For such a small village there is a lot of traffic and so noisy as cottage is right on the road so don't expect a lie in if you're a light sleeper.

  • "Absolutely fantastic place to stay."

everything and more was there to make the staycation a success. one small niggle, maybe explain in the welcome pack about the switch for the jacuzzi bath, or make a sign for it. the pub next door is very friendly and convenient. we will return in the future.

  • "The cottage is really well positioned for travelling around the lake district, but it is bang on a very busy road, also people walk by the windows and can look in, which was uncomfortable, yes there is a blind to pull, but the weather had been so good, we really didn't want to shut it out."

We used the rear entrance, as we have dogs, and there's a gate. The side door opens into the kitchen. Into the conservatory, where a table for 4 is placed, its bright, clean and functional. Into the kitchen which has an island in the middle, lots of storage which is great, dishwasher, washing machine and fan assisted oven for cooking with electric hob. Large fridge too. Into the front room 2 lovely ĺeather sofas, big TV and a playstation. Upstairs is the bathroom, which is really big, with jacuzzi bath and separate shower, plus WC. The shower is one of the hottest I've ever been in, it was Fantastic! 2 bedrooms upstairs, both have plenty of storage, I stayed in the room next to the bathroom, and when I sneezed, it actually echoed! Large room. Also in the rooms are rather large tvs too. The foam-sponge mattress protector made the beds very hot, but they were very comfortable. I enjoyed my break, but I wouldn't return to stay here as the road is too busy, too close and we really didn't like people walking by looking in. If you are looking for a good location to visit the lake district, this is a good spot. The bins could do with being clearly labelled too, as we were unsure on which was ours to use, all neighbours bins were in one place but not labelled clearly. We used The Pheasant car park, as the parking next to the cottage is tight and the neighbours have large vehicles, which would struggle to park if I parked my car there too.

The reclining sofas were especially appreciated. Excellent food in the Pheasant Inn & very dog friendly. Jaffa loved the attention! Not much of a back garden but it was enclosed allowing us to let the dog lie in the sun. All in all, Fernleigh Cottage is everything we look for in a holiday property & we would look to return another time. Thank you all.

It contains everything you need for your stay (every kitchen utensil you could think of) . My only minor grumble is the the mattress is too soft for my liking and the inner hygiene duvet cover is very noisy and slippy. ( the duvet ends up in a heap at the bottom). But with that being the only thing we will return, we really enjoyed our stay . And it is a must to visit the owners pub next door, the food is amazing and the staff very friendly.

The photos of the lounge do not do it justice, there are now 2 new leather recycling sofas and the curtains have been replaced with modern blinds. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean and was well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The Pheasant pub was very welcoming and served delicious food. We parked next to the cottage which was fine for us as we only have a small car however on arrival we were told we were welcome to park in the pub car park if we preferred but we didn't need to. Good location for exploring the Lake District. Had a great week.

Very awkward to turn out of the drive because of very busy main road and unable to see both ways properly. Also the driveway was scruffy. We finished up parking in the pub car park. Cleanliness inside the property was wanting - particular attention needs to paid to corners of rooms and behind furniture. The glass tv stand was also in need of a good polish. All generally in need of a deep clean. Loose plug socket in the lounge. On the plus side the bathroom was superb and the pub around the corner gave excellent food and service.
